She spoke at length about the new 2022 CD Return To Shore done with her late husband and celebrated Guitarist Vic Juris  .. First single, “God Only Knows” is out September 23, in connection with Vic’s September 26th Birthday .. This album chronicles a moving love story produced by guitar great Dave Stryker .. In late December 2019, Vic passed away after a relatively brief but valiant battle with nuero-endocrine cancer. His untimely death at age 66 gave way to a crater in the music community. For over forty years, Vic was a master of jazz .. Kate is a skilled vocalist whose impact on the contemporary music scene, especially as an educator and vocal coach .. He came to Kansas City from Portland, Oregon about 5 months ago and things are taking off .. On September 21, 2022 he will be a part of the Boulevard Big Band at The Warwick playing with a jazz heavyweight in Eric Marienthal .. Stan was born into a musical family and hs father was a cornet player and High School band director while his mother was a singer and pianist that also taught private piano students. After High School, he attended Fort Hays State in Kansas and went on to the University of Northern Iowa .. Along with performing, he is respected teacher and champion of jazz with over six decades under his belt .. We talk about this long career and his current home of KC in full .. His spirituality shines on this album opening new doors to an endlessly expressive musical universe. Rumba refers to the social gatherings of the black community in Havana, Cuba. At the beginning of the twentieth century, these groups met to celebrate and praise the deceased in ceremonies full of song and dance. He opened up about their 2022 “Live At The Last Hotel” on a jazz album that literally tells a story. It was born from a residency at the REAL Last Hotel in downtown St. Louis. Each song paints a picture with bounce and bustle that takes the listener to a place and time that somehow feels both nostalgic and modern. John has played in dozens of bands over the years and learned just as many styles. His compositions are infused with such influences, including Latin, funk, chamber-classical, soul, blues and rock, and he hopes the result will have the audience.

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with London-based Producer and Band Brainchild of US3 Geoff Wilkinson .. The band was formed in 1992 alongside production partner Mel Simpson .. Ultimately US3 rose from the ashes of 2 previous incarnations. Their name was inspired by the  Horace Parlan album Us Three produced by Alfred Lion who is the founder of Blue Note Records .. Two years after they released “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia), it hit the US top ten. The album was “Hand on the Torch” and it was a global phenomenon, along with being the first Blue Note album ever to achieve Platinum status in the USA.
