Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Veteran Pianist, Composer, Orchestrator & Producer John Herberman .. He opened up about his new new 2023 CD Spring Comes Early that stands as his second record of original jazz tunes. Almost two years in the making, it was during the time that COVID hit that he made the decision to return to his ‘roots’ and his passion for the jazz of the late 1950s and early 60s with the Canadian release his first independent jazz album entitled Overheard On a Park Bench in 2021. He is not widely known as a jazz musician. For 35 years, he split his professional life between a successful career as a screen composer and orchestrator, and composer/ producer of over 45 albums for the Solitudes and Avalon labels .. We cover some solid ground .. Enjoy ..

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Saxophonist & Composer Quinsin Nachoff on the 2023 CD Stars & Constellations .. This new album draws inspiration from mythology that seeks to make sense of the unfathomable cosmos. Uniting a chordless jazz trio – Nachoff, bassist Mark Helias and drummer Dan Weiss – with both the Bergamot Quartet, and on one track by The Rhythm Method string quartet, dissolves any division between jazz and classical. We cover this album, surviving the pandemic and the future ahead .. Dig in..

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz Singer on the 2023 CD Two Moons Michelle Lordi .. On this fourth album out on Imani Records, she is joined by pianist and Imani owner Orrin Evans, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Nasheet Waits, partners on three albums as the collective trio Tar Baby, who contribute their customary attitude of what Lordi calls “reckless abandon” while also functioning as a nonpareil signifying rhythm section. The brilliant young alto saxophonist Caleb Curtis and adept bassist Matthew Parrish contribute poignantly to several tunes. We originally caught up in October of 2020, so we talk about surviving the pandemic, this new project, upcoming live shows, dreams and much more .. Enjoy ..
