Author Neil Gaiman has said that he has magic jazz fingers and that could have led to his long running Vegas gig with Penn and Teller .. he does all the music for their shows .. In the early years, he got some good advice from legend Oscar Peterson on going to Berklee College of Music in Boston .. He’s fullla great stories and jazz insights ..

She grew up in the Washington DC area and her dad had a professional studio in their house where she grew up listening to pros recording amazing jazz music .. and she started out on the drums at 10 and loves them .. cannot live without them .. She is currently promoting her 2016 release Otis was a Polar Bear – and that will include a swing through Kansas City on June 30, 2016 at the Blue Room on 18 and Vine .. Along with the music, she is a teacher at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in NYC .. She learned from the best – Dr. Michael Carvin when she arrived in New York in 1996 and talks about the lessons she got from him .. along with many more tales ..

Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Jazz free jazz double bassist, multi-instrumentalist, poet and composer William Parker .. He grew up in the Bronx and was always around music .. listening to from crib that his father and friends would make and used to turn toy guns into instruments for playtime .. He went on to study with cats like Jimmy Garrison and become a key component of the NYC experiemental  jazz music scene and play with the likes of Cecil Taylor and David S. Ware’s Quartet – He is a very introspective and brilliant poet, as well .. He is brimming with artistic ambition and has very eloquent thoughts on his life in music and the world around him ..
