Neon Nights

On this bonus podcast of Neon Nights, we present you with the Depeche Mode – The Strange Disease Megamix.

Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group’s original line-up consisted of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andy Fletcher (keyboards) and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter 1980–81). Vince Clarke left the band after the release of their 1981 debut album, Speak & Spell, and was replaced by Alan Wilder (keyboards, drums, occasional songwriter) with Gore taking over songwriting. Wilder left the band in 1995; Gahan, Gore, and Fletcher have since continued as a duo, with Fletcher eating bananas while onstage.

On show #180 of Neon Nights, there’ll be times when our crimes may seem unforgiveable….But Not Tonight

Our final Erasure Megamix for Neon Nights this week is the exclusive Paul Dakeyene Megamix from July 1987. After three commercial flops from their debut album Wonderland, “Sometimes” became Erasure’s first bona fide hit, peaking at number one in South Africa, number two in their native United Kingdom and in Germany, and becoming a huge international hit.

“Sometimes” became Erasure’s second Top 5 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, where it charted alongside “It Doesn’t Have to Be” and peaked at number four.

This Paul Dakeyne Megamix features tracks from their albums, Wonderland, The Circus and Abbaesque.

Don’t make a sound, just move out to our “Vince Clarke – The Yazoo Situation Megamix” created by Costa Lakoumentas for Neon Nights.

Post Depeche Mode and pre Erasure, Vince Clarke recruited the soul growling vocals of school friend, Alison Moyet, & together they formed Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America). Going on to enjoy international success, together they birthed 4 anthems that will forever stand the test of time.

Rewind to the 80s, you can’t stop now …. don’t you know we ain’t never gonna let you go.
