Nerd Caster

The team gets excited for the new season of Stranger Things which drops on Netflix the day after the recording. Since the season didn’t drop before we were recorded everything in this episode is pure opinion and speculation. The guys also talk about the Static-X/DevilDriver concert they attended and go into detail on much they enjoyed the opening band, Raven Black. Justin talks about his first impressions of Joe’s musical taste.  After that, there is some reminiscing on an Iceland trip before talking about the Netflix series Stranger Things and video games.  So listen in to hear the team shoot the shizz and get the skinny on Super Mario Maker 2, Marvel Alliance 3, and more.

Now that Stranger Things on Netflix has dropped we will be doing a complete review on a later podcast, but rest assured no spoilers are in this episode.

If interested in seeing Static-X, DevilDriver, Raven Black, Wednesday 13, and more they are on tour now, click here to get tickets at a venue near you.

Continuing our Retro Gaming talk, Justin brings up the EON Super 64 HDMI adapter that he just bought to get his N64 working like a champ on his HDMI TVs.  Somewhere during our nerdgasm for this little device, we end up rounding in on the newly released Raspberry Pi 4 and what we could do with it.

Just has also giving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rescue Palooza a-go and gives his first impressions on the game.  A more depth review will be coming out later once we can get our hands and minds into the game to give it a real play through.

We also talk about the PIXAR’s newly released Toy Story 4 movie and how much Joe liked or didn’t like it. Some other topics include:

The team sits down to talk about how Retro Gaming is making an awesome comeback. In the age of nostalgia it was only a matter of time that old school gaming consoles would make a return to the new flat screen technology that exists today. In the episode title Retro Gaming Revived Joe and Justin sit down to discuss some Hyperkin consoles, new conversion cables for classic consoles, and more on this episode of Nerd Caster.

It should come to no surprise that this topic had to come up. Many articles have been written by the team on the subject and retro gaming is where this entire site got its start. Not only do we talk about the revival of retro consoles, but we do talk a bit about X-Men Dark Phoenix, Batman vs The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and some old school arcades in the NJ area including:

Check out all the above if you are in the Monmouth County NJ area.

It’s a bonus episode this week! With Square Enix showing Final Fantasy VII footage at E3 how could we not geek out over this news? Listen in as Joe and Lori take to the airwaves to talk about their thoughts and excitement on this new telling of the iconic Final Fantasy story. Even though the game won’t be out until March 3rd, 2020 these two can’t wait to get there hands on the Final Fantasy VII Remake and it shows in this episode.

Along with talking about Final Fantasy VII the two also talk about the Remaster of Final Fantasy VIII. Lori even gives some anecdotes about her playing the games as a child. She even gets defensive about VIII being her favorite because Joe apparently gives her a “look” and she feels like she has to justify herself. All that and more on this episode of Nerd Caster.

This week we mixed things up a bit on Nerd Caster. We sit with one of the two hosts of the Justin Vs Justen show.  Oddly enough his name is Justin, which makes this show a little confusing as the long-awaited Nerd Caster Justin is back as well.  We all got together on our Skype accounts to talk everything from Avengers Endgame (Spoiler Alert) to Raspberry Pi gaming rigs.

Justin and Justin give Joe the low down on what they think of Endgame and if they agree with what Lori and Joe said about the movie in the last episode. After that, the show spirals out of control as they jump from topic to topic before rounding back on some theories in Endgame and their overall thoughts. The topic then spins into a conversation about movies altogether and how Joe has (like usual) not seen any of them. The group goes over what two movies that they hate that the rest of the world loves, so be prepared to yell at your listening device when you hear which movies they guys come up with.

It’s a fun-filled high energy episode so tune in and subscribe not only to Nerd Caster but Justin vs Justen as well!

Before reading, not that this podcast and this description WILL contain Spoilers. This week the team took to the movie theater and watched Avengers Endgame, not once but twice.  They dive deep into the movie for this episode and talk about the events of Endgame and what they thought of the movie.

Unlike other reviews, the team will not go scene by scene but instead takes more of a look at each of the main characters and their stories. We take a look at Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Cliff Barton, and more in this review and where we think their stories will go from here. That is if they have a story left to tell.

Joe and Lori review the time travel aspect of this movie and how it plays an integral part, and how Joe still doesn’t understand the MCU’s rules for time travel. Maybe he will never understand them.

At the end (and peppered throughout), the two go into the future of MCU and the theories that they have on if the core Avengers (Stark, Widow, Hawkeye, Cap, Thor, and Hulk) will ever be seen again and where.  In some of the cases, they even go over the “how” we will see them again.

If you want to hear about how wrong our original Endgame theories were, listen to the last episode here.

On this episode of Nerd Caster, Joe and Lori talk about and break down the newest Star Wars Trailer for Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. Not “The Rise of The Skywalker, as we have heard so much.  They go into each scene of the trailer and break down what they think is going on.  They give their theories on where in the plot these scenes may take place and what significance they may have on the overall plot. It’s known that J.J. Abrams loves to put easter eggs in his work so maybe Joe and Lori catch a few.

After talking about the Star Wars trailer the duo break down some theories they have about what is going to happen in Avengers: Endgame and who will or won’t make it out alive. Joe has some off the wall theories on who exactly will get the final blow on Thanos.  He goes over some of his theories here but expands on them in this episode of Nerd Caster. So grab a sandwich and beer get ready to yell at your portable device as you listen to the latest episode.
