Network Special

It's week two of Marvel Month and we are tackling a one-season wonder The Amazing Spider-Man from 1977. Unlike Dr. Strange, this pilot DID get picked up and CBS gave it a little bit of a chance to do its thing. This opening pilot is a bit too long and none of the actors really shine like they do in other Spider-Man outings. Get caught in our web and laugh your spider senses silly!

This week on Network Special we tackle the OG. The Original. The TRUE Dr. Strange (sorry Benny!) from 1978 starring Peter Hooten and Jessica Walter. This failed TV pilot aired opposite Roots which gives you an idea of why this might be a failed TV pilot. But also, it sucks! Oh, and BTW, it's Marvel Month all month long (and maybe even into the next month - I can't count)!

It's episode #40 and we're celebrating big time by watching a stone-cold classic! This week's episode covers a sort of based-on-a-true story about a boy who grows up in a bubble because he was born without an immune system. John Travolta stars as Tod Lubitch who decides to risk his life and leave his protective room when he falls in love with the next-door neighbor. Tune in to find out if he survives or if he finds out that true love is a lie and that he should have stayed in that bubble.

This week, in the last week of 2021, we salute the new year with our main man Jamie Kennedy as he hosts a spectacular New Year's Eve special for the West Coast that makes Dick Clark's New Year's special look like... well, the Dick Clark New Year's Eve special. With goofs and spoofs galore, tune in to hear what it sounds like when a TV show has a nervous breakdown and forgets what manners are in modern times.

This week on Network Special, we get deep into the lore of Santa Claus with two (count em, TWO) Rankin/Bass animation classics. Both of these specials take on the beginnings of St. Nick but give him two very different origins. One of them will have you dreaming of sugar plums and figgy pudding and the other will make you think someone laced your egg nog with acid.
