Today, we’re branching into the Americans with Disabilities Education Act, otherwise known as the ADA!

Last week, we discussed employment and the Rehabilitation Act’s impact on the neurodiverse community. In this week's episode we’re branching off into IDEA, otherwise known as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and how it reformed education for the neurodiverse.

This episode covers some of the most important disability rights laws including the Rehabilitation Act, which is today’s topic, IDEA, otherwise known as Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act!

In today’s episode, we hope to answer the central question: how do we balance the inclusion of those with neurodiverse conditions on a spectrum when contrasted models of disability exist extensively in law and policy? To answer this question, we have to define a few terms: “models of disability” and the specific “laws and policies” critical to understanding the intersection between disability and the neurodiversity movement.

In this episode, we're discussing examples of inclusive practices in various fields, the specifics of advocacy, and a basic overview of conflicts in the neurodiversity community. Let’s get into it!
