During the COVID pandemic, many of us pilots sat around wishing we were back in the air rather than actually getting to fly, and I thought it would be neat to kick off this series with a story that sort of relates to that. This story is called New Beginnings, and it actually came together following the 9/11 grounding of all aircraft in the United States.
Back then, like during COVID, we were suddenly grounded with no indication of if or when we would ever get back into the air. It was a traumatic period, and then there was that special day we were returned to flight. That's what this story is about, and I think you'll find it relevant to the pain we pilots endured through both 9/11 and the pandemic, and the joys of once again being cleared for takeoff.
