Although there aren't many objections against the fact that Jesus Christ really did exist, some objections concerning the incarnation and divinity of Christ are inspected. Additionally, some objections to the penal substitutionary atonement of the cross are addressed. But the majority of the lesson is spent on the many objections there are to the resurrection and how we should Biblically respond to them.

In this passage, John the Baptist explains why he must decrease and Jesus must increase. Regarding Jesus' superiority, he is greater because he comes from above, has sovereign authority over all, gives truthful testimony to all, and judges justly. Regarding our inferiority, we are finite beings who are accountable to God.

In this passage we see God's dealings with the post-exilic Israelites who were struggling with spiritual apathy. We see the sin of apathy exposed. We see the symptoms of spiritual apathy. We see that God brings a curse against apathy. But we also see the grace of God for apathetic people.

In Peter's final exhortation to his readers to round out the body of his epistle, he urges his readers to be humble. Specifically, he talks about how to handle the anxieties that result from the trials described so far in the epistle - and how to handle them with humility. Peter urges his readers to humbly admit they cannot handle their anxieties alone - run to God with the real worries they have. He outlines how we should cast our anxieties on God, and how we shouldn't cast our anxieties elsewhere lest the devil devour us. And the motivation for this- The God we cast our anxieties on loves us, cares for us, can bear us up, is sovereign over every anxiety-producing circumstance, and has given us all grace through Jesus Christ.

We examine five incommunicable attributes of God, namely God's independence, immutability, eternality, omnipresence, and unity. A definition and a corresponding balancing statement is given for each. The implications for the Christian life are explored.

In this passage we see Jesus' triumph over demonic forces. Jesus' disciples were victorious over demons while the Jewish exorcists failed. Jesus' power was demonstrated over the demons in His ability to heal, exorcise, and command. Lastly, Jesus' Word was exalted over the demons as the Gospel spread and prevailed while the books of witchcraft were burned. We also examine questions concerning demonic possession and oppression among Christians in the modern day.

In the context of giving exhortations to the flock about how to endure fiery trials faithfully, Peter gives special attention to pastors in this passage. Peter identifies himself with the ordinary pastor, and lays out the job description of a pastor. He then gives three commands to pastors as to how they should - shouldn't go about shepherding. After contemplating the sheer difficulty and burden of shepherding, Peter encourages the pastors by reminding them of Christ's reward for their faithful labor.

Daniel has just seen the empire of Babylon fall, and upon meditating on the 70-year prophecy of Jeremiah, is praying to God to forgive His people, move their hearts to repentance, and restore them to Jerusalem. In this passage, God answers that prayer through the angel Gabriel. The answer to Daniel's pleas for mercy is not only restoration to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the city, but also a Messiah who will one day come and make a soul-saving covenant through his death. To put it more explicitly, the answer to Daniel's prayer for forgiveness is the person - new covenant work of Jesus Christ, and the end of the old covenant.

In this text, we see Christ in the context of the Davidic Covenant. We see Yahweh's kingship, the Davidic Covenant restated, and a lament as the writer wrestles with God about covenant faithfulness when the people have sinned. The conclusion is doxology that hints at the Trinity.

In this famous verse we see God's sovereign love on display. We see the foundation of this love, that God is the glorious, majestic Creator who is awesome in holiness. We see the intensity of this love in the how God freed us to enjoy Him. We see the scope of this love, that it reaches the whole world and crosses racial boundaries. We see the action of the Father sacrificing the Son. And finally we see the promise of eternal life.
