We close out our Thursday's show in traditional fashion as we go to school with Jesse Newell the Chiefs beat writer for the KC Star.  Jesse opens up giving his thoughts on the story that came out about Andy Reid's office being shot up.  Then the guys talk about the Skyy Moore being traded to the 49ers and then they get into the Chiefs offensive line.  They wrap the hour up talking about some sleeper picks to make the Chiefs and how Jesse thinks the back end of the roster might shake out.

In hour 3 of New Day SSJ is joined by weekly guest Gherig Deieter and Anthony Sherman.  SSJ talks to the guys about the incident in Andy Reid's office as well as the trading of Sky Moore to the 49ers.  Then the boys discuss the AL Wildcard with the Royals and Yankees being two of the hottest teams in the American League chasing the 3 wildcard spots.  Then they talk about what they will be looking for in the last preseason game against the Bears and the level of concern for the offensive line.  Of course they also get into a lot more of their regular nonsense.

In the 2nd hour of the show Steven is joined by weekly guest MLB Insider Buster Olney of ESPN.  The guys talk about the Royals getting right in the middle of the wildcard race just a few games out of the last spot and Buster thinks they might be the most dangerous team on the outside looking in.  They also talk about MLB realignment and the Cubs/Brewers race in the NL Central.

In hour 4 of new Day with SSJ Steven and Nate are joined on the phone by Royals assistant GM Scott Sharpe to talk all about the Royals win streak and their quest to continue winning and playing meaningful baseball the rest of the season. The guys also talk about the greatness we have seen from Bobby Witt  through the first 4 years of his career and the list of players he joined by hitting his 100th home run last night. And a recap of Seth Lugo’s bounce back start last night to help continue the win streak. SSJ, Nate, and Coach start by discussing the unpredictable Big 12 conference as the conference heads into this season, with Kansas State and Iowa State set to open the season on Saturday in Ireland. Nate recaps his recent tour of KU’s new football stadium/ facilities, and SSJ asks coach Barnett about his thoughts on the Missouri Quarterback decision.
