New Hope Tampa Bay Sunday Sermon Podcast

Are you a Pay Day, a Million Dollar, a Zero, Milk Duds, or a Nestle's Crunch? What are your greatest hopes to "Live Like No One Else?"

Live It Out Loud: Jesus said this about the cost of being His disciple in Luke 14:28-30: “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it? Otherwise, you might complete only the foundation before running out of money, and then everyone would laugh at you. They would say, ‘There’s the person who started that building and couldn’t afford to finish it!'" Jesus used a sound money management principle to point His followers to be ready for anything once we began the relationship with Him.

This Sunday, August 7, we will conclude our sermon series on or Core Values: "Core: Defining Our Center." We exist: "to make more and better followers of Jesus Christ." We live this out through the values of Reach, Connect, Grow, and Send, and this week we'll look at the value of Reach. Our primary text for this Sunday will be 2 peter 1:3-8 (to read this text go to: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Peter+1%3A3-8&version=NLT) The title of the message is "Core: Growth is Expected."

This Sunday, Rev. Vicki continues our series on New Hope's core values. She will discuss how our God is a God of mission, a sending God, who sent Jesus into this messy world to set things right, to both proclaim and demonstrate the Kingdom of God. In turn, Jesus sends us as his followers to do the same. We get to continue God's mission of setting things right, of showing this world what it looks like to live under the reign of Christ. We are sent!

Scripture: Luke 4:16-21; Luke 4:43; Luke 9:1-2; John 17:18

Last week, Pastor Jamie introduced some key wording changes our Leadership Team has adopted to help make it easier to understand what behaviors Scripture says are expected of every Christ-follower (The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20).

This week, we're going to address the question, “Why Connect?” Why does God make such a big deal about our connecting to Jesus, to one another, and to those not yet here? In preparation for our time together, meditate on Mark 3:14- The Message translation puts it like this: “He climbed a mountain and invited those he wanted with him. They climbed together. He settled on twelve, and designated them apostles. The plan was that they would be with him, and he would send them out to proclaim the Word.” And, also on Hebrews 10:25- “Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching.”

This Sunday, May 29, we begin a new sermon series "All Grace is a Gift." We need to regularly spend time reflecting deeply on God's grace in all of it's forms. This week we'll begin with a look at Prevenient Grace; that is, the grace of God that is impossible for us to see except from the rear view mirror of having stepped over the line of faith in Justifying Grace. Then we'll look at Sanctifying Grace and Glorifying Grace, and finish up with a discussion of what gets in the way of grace in our lives. The title: "All Grace is a Gift...Even Before We Receive It." Scripture: John 1:1-5; Psalm 139: 1, 5, 13-18
