New Horizons

In this first episode of our holiday series of New Horizons, we feature presentations given at the BCA Inform event, held on the third of December. John Simpson, president of BCA, and Emma Bennison, CEO, provide a brief overview of Blind Citizens Australia's work over, what will be for most, an extremely memorable year.

In this week's episode, we go right back to my first regular New Horizons programme. In Episode 428 I spoke with Rikki Chaplin, Policy and Advocacy Team Leader with Blind Citizens Australia, about the advantages and disadvantages of moving interstate for work.

John Simpson, President, and Emma Bennison, CEO, are our guests in this week's New Horizons. We hear about the recently held AGM, a recent award, and information about who will be leading BCA's National Policy Council, Finance Audit and Risk Management and Stakeholder Engagement committees for the 2020-21 financial year.

In this week's episode, we hear extracts from a presentation given following the 2019-20 Annual General Meeting of Blind Citizens Australia. Linda Agnew is the head of school of Science and Technology at the University of New England. Linda discusses her career pathway thus far, and some of the barriers blind and vision impaired people face when attempting to gain careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and mathematics, or STEM..

In Episode 627, we spoke with Ron McCallum AO about his book, Born at the Right Time. We bring you this interview again, as Ron will be joining Vision Australia's Stella Glorie for an online conversation next week. In this week's episode we feature the editorial from the recently released Blind Citizens News magazine, edited by Jonathan Craig. Jonathan joins us to talk about his editorial and discuss the contents of this edition. Also a brief reminder about the National Womens Branch AGM.
