We continue our journey through the book of Romans. In today's passage we see that God hasn't abandoned his people. Paul references the story of Elijah and shows how God hasn't deserted his chosen people.

If we are saved by grace, salvation cannot come from works. Neither can someone be saved by following the law. The Jewish people had hardened their hearts and could not hear.

Verse 9 is a clear proclamation of the Gospel. Roman 10 5-7 reference Deuteronomy 30 v11-14 - righteousness even from the time of Moses was based on faith in Jesus and not following the law.

A Christian who rejects the wrath of God is mistaken. The reason God's wrath ensures is that it makes known the riches of His glory to his elect, whom He chose before the foundation of the world.

We continue our journey through the book of Romans. Today we see that we cannot comprehend God's intentions, human pride get in our way. We only know what God has chosen to reveal.

In this passage, the clay represents a sinful fallen humanity. Humans choose to harden their hearts, we are responsible for our sin and God takes no pleasure for the punishment of sinners.

God endures with great patience to show his wrath so we can see his character.

As Jesus hung on the cross for our sins we can truly witness the glory of God.

We continue our journey through the book of Romans. Paul is still dealing with the question: Has God's word failed? Paul is dealing with the unbelief of the Jews and whether God's word can be trusted. In the passage Paul examines

• Gentiles' salvation: Paul cites Hosea to see that this has always been the case (to turn non Israelites into Israelites) V24-26

• Preservation of the Jews: Paul quotes Isiah - Israel's hope depends on God by preserving a remnant of them by his grace/. God was always going to make people who aren't "his people" his people. v27-29

• Abraham's decendents are actually hose who have faith. By receiving Jesus as messiah, gentiles were made righteous.

Paul uses God's word to prove that God's word hasn't failed.

We continue our journey through the book of Romans. In today's passage we see that God's ultimate purpose of election is to make known the riches of his glory and make those riches known to his elect.

We have seen previously in Chapter 9 that God elects some over others, a decision based not on works or human will but on God who has mercy.

We often ask questions of God, Paul asks US a question - who are we to talk back to God. To do so is ridiculous. God is all powerful and we must be humble before him

In today's sermon, Hughie discusses this passage from Ephesians. We see that husbands cannot save their wives, but they should 'sacrifice' for them as Christ laid down his life for the Church.

Wives should be subject to their husbands as to the Lord. Wives submit as Jesus should submit to the Father and submit not to 'men' but to her husband.

For husbands, loving your wife is a *command*, whatever the circumstances, husbands are instructed to love.
