  • Our Faith is Not Futile
Resurrection Sunday - Paul stayed for 18 months in Corinth, at the direction of the Lord, to teach the new believers the word of God. His later letters (epistles) to the Corinthians, particularly 1 Corinthians, helps us understand that Paul taught them about church leadership, the Lords supper, spiritual gifts, conduct in the church, orderly worship, love, and marriage. In all his teaching and dialog in Corinth, one of the most important truths Paul taught the Corinthians was that of Jesus resurrection. In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul explains why the resurrection of Jesus is at the heart of all Christianity.Watch at: https://youtu.be/5Qv3zLGJy_k File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/04/05/17/17/57/21de8c59-40c5-4562-8b59-6104fbf37c37/Week%2022%20-%20040421%20-%20Acts%2018%201-28%20(Questions).pdf

  • Conversions (Part 3)
In Athens, Paul shared the gospel with Jews and God-fearing Gentiles in the synagogue, with people in the marketplace, and with the Areopagus leaders and intellects. In every context, he connected with his listeners in ways that would be most relevant for them. He appealed to their religiosity, referred to their altar to an unknown God, and quoted a Stoic philosopher to lovingly present the gospel message with restraint, respect, and revelation. Paul provides a great example for us to look for points of agreement when trying to connect with people.Watch at: https://youtu.be/GY1IFxPlrdQ File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/03/29/11/36/05/fde3cbfa-1da0-44f7-9748-e2005f64bf5b/Week%2021%20-%20032821%20-%20Acts%2017%2016-34%20(Questions).pdf

  • Conversions (Part 2)
President Theodore Roosevelt is quoted as saying, People dont care how much you know until they know how much you care. You can argue all you want with people to try and convince them to believe in Jesus but if you dont genuinely care for them your words will fall on deaf ears. When you care for them your words dont have to be many, they will hear your heart. Conversions stem from sacrificial love and the reliability of the Word of God.Watch at: https://youtu.be/zLt6jegKMkQ File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/03/30/18/51/49/6a74faff-4e40-413a-b148-0b643481e36c/Week%2020%20-%20032121%20-%20Acts%2017%201-15%20(Questions).pdf

  • Conversions (Part 1)
The book of Acts documents a number of conversions the accounts of people who believed in Jesus and, as a result, had their lives changed. In Acts 16, we read in particular of the conversions of Lydia and her household, and the Philippian jailer and his household. God uses a variety of means to draw people to himself by the power of the Holy Spirit. • Handling Conflicts
Acts 15 describes two kinds of conflicts one related to doctrine and practice, the other interpersonal. The question of whether Gentile believers should be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses was handled by the council of apostles, elders, and believers in Jerusalem by considering Gods direct revelation, the witness of the Holy Spirit, and the fulfillment of scripture. An accommodation was made for the sake of the Jewish believers. The question of whether John Mark should accompany Paul and Barnabas on their next missionary journey was not as readily resolved. The disagreement between Paul and Barnabas became so heated that they ended up parting ways. Both conflicts provide lessons for us on how to handle conflicts. • Strengthening the Local Church
Paul and Barnabas returned to the churches that they had helped establish so that they could strengthen the disciples, the new converts. In addition to the principles already established in Acts 2 teaching, fellowship, participation in the Lords Supper (communion), and prayer Paul and Barnabas strengthen the local churches by encouraging them to remain true to the faith, to be prepared for hardships, and to appoint and pray for leaders. • The Supremacy of the Word of God
As Paul and Barnabas continued their missionary journey, they made their way to Pisidian Antioch. In a Roman city that was renowned for imperial cult worship, it is notable that the simple gospel message that Paul shared was received by so many. Luke makes it clear that what they accepted, what they believed, was the Word of God. It is this emphasis on the Word of God, the supremacy of the Word of God in the lives of the speakers and hearers that serves as an example for us. • The Missionary Call
Paul and Barnabas were called and set apart by the Holy Spirit for the work of the Spirit. They were then sent on their way by the Holy Spirit. All through history, ordinary Christians have been similarly called to go all around the world and share the good news of Jesus Christ. These obedient and humble men and women of God have sacrificially shared the gospel message and lived out the gospel mandate by establishing schools, orphanages, and hospitals while championing social reform, education, and economic development.Watch at: https://youtu.be/cBKc5G-ATMk File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/02/08/13/13/55/cd8af313-00c8-4b6a-b846-04f95dc7cbea/Week%2015%20-%20020721%20-%20Acts%2012%2025%20-%2013%2012%20(Questions).pdf

  • Don't Be Like Herod
Peters physical rescue from prison is dramatic and miraculous. He is bound by chains, between 2 soldiers, with guards at each set of gates. And, yet, as if in a dream, an angel leads Peter out of the prison and into the street with absolutely no difficulty. But Acts 12:1-24 has more to teach us from the life of Herod than the life of Peter. And, in this case, the lessons are for what we should not do rather than what we should. • Ordinary Christians
Acts 11:20 says that some men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. The faithful obedience of these unnamed, ordinary Christians resulted in a number of people believing in Jesus and turning to the Lord. The local church in Antioch played an important role in the ministry and missionary journeys of Paul. It was the place where the term Christian originated. When we identify as Christians, were tracing our roots to Antioch. When we follow the example of these ordinary Antiochian Christians to live ordinary lives in Christ, we end up living extraordinarily.Watch at: https://youtu.be/yZqPCmAOJ80 File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/01/25/14/29/53/edaea97a-6aac-4b22-a874-6f3f1ea9cabd/Week%2013%20-%20012421%20-%20Acts%2011%2019-30%20(Questions).pdf
