  • A Pattern of Life
The main events in this passage Peters speech, the outpouring of the Spirit on the Gentiles, their baptism in water, and the acceptance of the Gentile believers by the Jewish believers highlight four key directives for everyone: believe in Jesus, be water baptized, be filled in the Spirit, and remain in fellowship with the body of Christ.
For more on water baptism go to the sermon from Luke 3.Watch at: https://youtu.be/OpgRjgT9yXM File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/01/17/19/11/19/3140e35f-71f3-4978-89b4-6f05d88ac558/Week%2012%20-%20011721%20-%20Acts%2010%2034%20-%2011%2018%20(Questions).pdf

  • Don't Call Anyone Impure or Unclean
An angel appeared to Cornelius and asked him to send for Peter. When Cornelius emissaries arrived at the house in Joppa where Peter was staying, Peter who had just seen a vision from the Lord was instructed by the Holy Spirit to go with the men. The vision, Peters initial reaction to it, and the subsequent events at Cornelius home in Caesarea provide a very important lesson in dealing with our mindsets about people. Peters mindset, formed by his ardent adherence to the very laws of God, had to be transformed as God showed him that he should not call anyone impure or unclean.Watch at: https://youtu.be/2Pmn52cuMNc File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/01/10/17/42/19/e4608dcf-90ac-4033-b7f5-f549a0e1e6fd/Week%2011%20-%20011021%20-%20Acts%2010%201-33%20(Questions).pdf

  • Hope for the Hopeless
Peter was used by Jesus to minister healing to Aeneas who was paralyzed and bedridden for eight years, and to raise Tabitha from the dead. Both situations were hopeless in the natural. Both situations needed a supernatural intervention and divine hope. When we understand what biblical hope is, we then understand that every hopeless situation leads us to hope in God.Watch at: https://youtu.be/1UDzXp0k5ws File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2021/01/03/17/37/27/bb10aaf2-399b-42c0-ab45-3d9e9d6fdd79/Week%2010%20-%20010321%20-%20Acts%209%2032-43%20(Questions).pdf

  • A New Beginning
Saul, who was breathing out murderous threats against the Lords disciples, was on his way to Damascus when Jesus directly confronted him. With a blinding light and a voice from heaven, Jesus revealed himself to Saul and transformed his life. Despite all that Saul had done, Jesus accounted for his past, commissioned him for ministry, and united him to Jesus body, the Church. We can have the same kind of new beginning in our lives as Saul did.Watch at: https://youtu.be/ZMtVI0xK7IM File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2020/12/28/11/46/20/36f8ce71-814c-4534-b134-183916a82fad/Week%209%20-%20122720%20-%20Acts%209%201-31%20(Questions).pdf

  • The Christmas Story
Philip was led by the Holy Spirit to leave Samaria where he had a flourishing ministry to share the gospel with one man, an (Ethiopian) African court official who was returning home from Jerusalem. Philip joined this man in his chariot as he was reading the book of Isaiah. Philip explained what the prophet had foretold about Jesus, including the glorious miracle of Jesus birth. The Christmas story is a fulfillment of prophecy, of what was spoken in the past, and an assurance of the future. It also equips us to evangelize, to tell the good news of the Christmas story to everyone.Watch at: https://youtu.be/2lgAFWZ4YM4 File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2020/12/24/11/50/44/6d0e3bf6-0a77-40a0-999e-1080599598a9/Week%208%20-%20122020%20-%20Acts%208%2026-40%20(Questions).pdf

  • True Transformation
Jesus told the disciples that they would be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Acts 8:5 states, Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. Philip was, in effect, the first evangelist and missionary of the Church. As a result of Philips ministry, Peter and John (who in Luke 9:51-56 wanted to call down fire from heaven on a Samaritan village) came to Samaria to pray for the people to receive the Holy Spirit and then preached the gospel in many Samaritan villages. There was a true transformation in the attitude and ministry of the apostles. Acts 8 also describes the supposed transformation of Simon the sorcerer. Simons subsequent behavior and Peters rebuke of him provide a warning to us about the motivations and condition of our hearts. • Stephen
Every Believer a Leader - Stephen is referred to as the first martyr of the Church. His willingness to give up his life for the sake of the gospel is a lesson and challenge for the modern Church on how to die well. Even as he was being stoned to death, he forgave his executioners. But Stephens character and testimony prior to his execution provide very important lessons for us on how to live well. Acts 6:5, 6:8, and 6:10 describe Stephen as a man full of faith, wisdom, the Holy Spirit, Gods grace, and power who performed great wonders and signs among the people as he spoke the irrefutable message of God. • If it is From God
The religious leaders tried to stop the apostles from teaching the people about Jesus. But their threats, beatings, and imprisonment had no effect. As they tried to figure out how they could put the apostles to death, Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, said, Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God. The question for the early Church and for us today remains the same: how do you know if something is from God or not?Watch at: https://youtu.be/LsT-UYfTdeA File Downloads: https://dq5pwpg1q8ru0.cloudfront.net/2020/11/30/08/57/28/aab7f184-f497-42e9-a70b-487a67327fd8/Week%205%20-%20112920%20-%20Acts%205%2012-42%20(Questions).pdf

  • Meeting Physical Needs
In Acts 2 and 4 we read how the believers in the early Church shared everything in common and sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Acts 4:33-34 states that Gods grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. As Acts 5:4 and other scriptures make clear the Bible is not calling for the abolishing of personal property or the centralized distribution of wealth. However, the example of the early Church is a necessary prompt for the Church today to actively engage in compassionate care of those in need. • Being with Jesus
You would think that the healing of a lame man would cause the religious leaders of the day to rejoice in the work of God. Instead, they imprisoned Peter and John, questioned them, threatened them, and released them only because all the people were praising God for what had happened. But there is one very important point to note about the interaction of the leaders with Peter and John: when they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus (v13).
