  • Shakeup in the Podcasting Space #219

A number of high-level events happened this past week including big changes at Panopoly and the folks at iHeartRadio writing some big checks to pick up some podcasting properties. We also received confirmation that some networks are getting media pass-through at Spotify which gives us some hope that at some point all shows can be pass-through versus cached. That and a lot more.

Here is a review left by a listener of the show: 5 Stars

Biased, fun review of all things new in podcasting: Sure they’re old school, like ground floor old school. Sure they are biased towards their respective companies’ approach to podcasting. But they care about us. A lot. And it shows. I listen to keep up with the cutting edge of the industry and I listen to relax. It’s not a show for everyone, but I’m not “everyone” and I enjoy hearing from those who fight to improve our community. It’s fun to get to know some of the most passionate and influential people in the podcasting space as real people

  • Does Castbox Understand Podcasting? #211

Todd Cochrane of Blubrry and Rob Greenlee of Voxnest dig into the issue surrounding the podcast feed hijacking and mirroring of feeds that Castbox undertook to apparently swing Google search results to their site and the ramifications of this action. It’s time again for podcasters to protect the intellectual property of their highly valued RSS feed, and ensure that third parties do not hijack and or mirror them ever.

We have not seen any company do this in a long time but with the recent Google Podcast player this is likely to show up again as companies try to manipulate listeners onto their platforms versus their home sites.

  • James Cridland – PodNews.net #210

Todd Cochrane and Rob Greenlee welcome James Cridland from PodNews.net to the show this week to talk podcasting and what is happening in the international scenes. Lots of ground covered here and some very good thought points on growing the industry and questions that we should be asking. He hammers home some of the same topics we have been raising on this show for a very long time. Plus reminds us of the common enemy we had at the beginning of the podcasting space. The question is who is that common enemy now.
