'Mindful Mama' is my gift to you. Your chance to stop, reflect, breathe, or just give yourself five minutes alone. These are short episodes themed around the unique trials of parenthood (and general life in 2022). So listen in the car, in the bath, or locked in your bedroom while the kids are watching YouTube! I hope today's message makes your day a bit easier :)

The full poem I mention in the episode reads as follows:
The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

"Deciding, based on an awful diagnoses, whether to continue with a pregnancy and bring a baby into the world to suffer, or not to continue with your pregnancy doesn't feel like a choice, It feels like the worst decision you will ever have to make."
At a routine scan during her first pregnancy, Meagan and her partner experienced what we all fear most in that moment. All was not well, and they would need to come back to see a doctor. What transpired over coming days and weeks was the reality that their baby daughter Violet had serious health problems and would not live long. They were then faced with a decision that no parent should ever have to make, and one they wished they never had to.
Meagan wrote her and Violet's story in her book 'Still a Mum'. It moved me immensely and I'm so grateful that she shared her story with me in this podcast. While at times this is an emotional listen - it's also a story that's full of hope and joy as Meagan lovingly remembers her daughter, and lives in a way that ensures her baby girl is never forgotten.
As mentioned this episode discusses infant loss.

We all know that 'mum tired' is in its own league of tired. But at what point do we need to stop and decide to do something about it? How long are we expected to exist like zombies? These are the questions I brought to my naturopath Hayley Stockbridge when I well and truly hit a wall at around 7 months post partum. She shared some amazing insights as to what's actually going on in my body, and some helpful tips about what I could do to get back on track. She's kindly agreed to join us this week to share her knowledge with you!
You can find out more about Hayley's work at her website, and follow her on instagram!

While everyone loves to talk about sex...not many people are talking about how much it changes during pregnancy and post partum. This is a VERY honest chat between three mates (and new mamas) about the S word. Are we doing it? Are we enjoying it? How is it different? Big love to Abi and Violet for opening up and being so honest!
Content warning: Adult themes (obvi) and a fair bit of swearing (I'm working on it)

Like many good things in life - this episode was never planned. In fact we were supposed to talk about something completely different...but the universe had other things in mind. Fresh off a child (and husband) free holiday, Emma shares her insights on why sometimes we need to prioritise time away...and why the negative self talk stops so many of us Mamas from even THINKING about it!

Big love xc

I welcome back the gang - Abi and Violet - as we all discuss how we're navigating the decision to head back to work. The excitement, the dread, and most importantly...the GUILT. Enjoy this episode in all its messy, hilarious, honest and vulnerable glory!
