Yet, you think you just might have what it takes to be a good leader!
If you want to become a leader that makes a lasting impact, this podcast is for you.

My goal with this podcast is to help new leaders at nonprofit organizations, survive and thrive in their leadership role.
I didn’t always realize how essential leadership is, but after 28 years in nonprofit leadership, I have come to realize that leadership is the most critical element to the success of any organization and any mission.
As leadership expert John Maxwell famously states, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.”

So, if you’re ready to survive and even thrive as a leader, listen to this episode on “Becoming a Leader People Love to Follow.”
    Enjoy the episode.

  • Episode 48: How to Process your Emotions
    Emotions are running high.
Anxiety, worry and so many other emotions are constant.
Adding to the challenges you face as a leader.
How do you keep your emotions from holding you back?

This week I’m walking you through a step-by-step, simple way to process your emotions. It was inspired by a fantastic instagram post from Arianna Huffington (link below).
    Notice It
    Name It
    Feel It
    Relax Into It

We may feel like suppressing or ignoring these negative emotions, but that’s not healthy for you and counter-productive to effective leadership.

Here’s “How to Process your Emotions.”
Are you ready? Let’s dive in.
(Please note: this is a replay of one of the most popular episodes of season one.)

  • Episode 44: How to lead yourself first - the secret to great leadership.
Chances are, you want to be a great leader.
A leader that inspires others and brings lasting transformation.
There’s a secret that all great leaders have learned.
If you want to be a leader people love to follow, start with leading yourself.

It is true that great leadership is all about those you lead. In many ways, it is about putting those you lead first.
But there is an exception, almost an oxymoron, in that it starts with you.
Although great leadership is not about you it’s about them (those you lead), great leadership starts with leading yourself.

This week’s podcast is, “How to lead yourself first - the secret to great leadership.”
Three essential steps to leading yourself first.

Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

  • Episode 43: How to prioritize your leadership growth.
Do you want to be a leader people love to follow?
    Of course, you do.
But how do you get from here to there?
What’s the secret to becoming a great leader?

If you’re a new leader, it’s common to be aware of how much you don’t know and how much you have to learn about leadership.
In fact, it’s easy to become overwhelmed.
It can feel like you’re at the beginning of a climb to the top of the highest mountain. And you’re not even sure how to get there.

    Isn’t there a shortcut?

Well, if you’ve listened to this podcast before, you’ll know that I’m a mentor and coach and that I have over 28 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. So, I’m going to give it to you straight, no bs. There is no shortcut.

I’m sure you already know this, but great leadership doesn’t happen by accident.
    Nor does it happen automatically.
It happens strategically, intentionally, through growth.

The good news is, you don’t have to climb the whole mountain today, this week or even this year.

Here’s, “How to prioritize your leadership growth.”
Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

  • Episode 42: The magic formula for taking your team to a new level
Want to take your leadership to a new level.
We all know that a grateful attitude is good for our health.
But did you know you can make it a game-changer in your leadership?
You can take your team to a new level.

But, I must caution you, it takes effort and intentionality.
Some leaders, when they hear that gratitude can be a game-changer, think, “I already know that and do that.”
And yet they are almost always deceived.

First, you and I do not express gratitude as often as we think we do.
And when we do, it’s sporadic and too casual, too impersonal to be memorable.
For most, if we asked a leader, “How often do you express genuine gratitude towards your team?” and then asked their team, “How often does your boss express genuine gratitude?” the answers would be drastically different.

Let’s be honest, if your gratitude isn’t memorable, it's not effective.

Fortunately, there’s a simple way to make this game-changer work for you and your team.

Here’s “The magic formula for taking your team to a new level.”
Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

  • Episode 40: How to increase your influence.
“Leadership is influence. Nothing more, nothing less.” John  Maxwell
    High influence, great leadership.
    Low influence, insignificant leadership.
If influence is so important, how do you grow your influence?

As John Maxwell observes, “Influence doesn’t come to us instantaneously. It grows by stages.”

So what are the ‘stages’ or steps to growing our influence?
How do we intentionally become a better leader, a leader people love to follow?

In today’s episode, we’re going to discover the 4 essential steps to growing your influence as a leader.
If you commit to growing these four areas, your life and leadership will be transformed.

Here’s, “How to increase your influence.”

  • Episode 39: How to grow as a leader.
“Leaders aren’t born, they are made.” Vince Lombardi
And you want to be a leader - a good leader.
A leader people love to follow.
How do you ‘make’ yourself a leader?

If you’re not sure how to go about intentionally learning leadership? And most new leaders are not sure.
Or if you’re looking for a simple process to increase your leadership skills and maximize your growth.
    This episode is for you.

And for some of you, this might be more of a ‘refresher’ on things you already know.

But let me give you one caution (a challenge if you will).
You approach each moment in one of two ways, you look for what you already know.
Or you look for what you can learn.
The first approach greatly reduces your options. The second expands it.
I try to consciously choose the second option in my life.

So here’s “How to grow as a leader.”
Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

And today, we’re wrapping up this series by looking at surviving and thriving in times of crisis.

    Unprecedented. Uncharted. Uncertain.
