I wore the Army uniform for 11 years—air assault medic, infection control expert, healthcare warrior—fixing bodies under tough conditions. But by 2015, my own body turned traitor. A traumatic brain injury and broken back from my military service tanked my life. One day, I’m deadlifting 500 pounds as a competitive powerlifter, the next day I couldn’t shower without help.
