Thanksgiving is a great holiday. What could your life become if it were a lifestyle? Today Jesus shows us that a life of gratitude is ultimately about the way we perceive our world and frame our place in it. What would happen if we truly trusted that God is Good and can be trusted.

God created humans and named them "good". But somewhere along the way they started believing they were "better". And with that lie, some also started believing they were "worse". How do we hold an accurate view of ourselves as "good"? Jesus shows us the way from pride to humility, from selfishness and selfishness to living a self-giving life. Today we'll hear a story Jesus told to help us discover the best way to be human.

"Social Justice." What is it exactly? It is a term that risks being so overused that it doesn't mean anything anymore. But how does God define justice? How is Jesus inviting us into the work of restoring all things? Today, an ancient prophet named Isaiah will help us grasp these vital points of understanding so we can be part of the solution.

Our world is marked by great violence - ISIS, gun violence, UFC - you name it. It is glorified and placed on a pedestal. In Jesus' day, he called the Israelites to a path of peace and they rejected it as weak. Jesus' first response was to lament. Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Our first and proper response to violence and injustice in our world is to lament. But what is it and how do we do it?

The first step away from God in the garden of Eden was ingratitude. The people essentially told God, "We want more." Since then, restlessness has plagued humanity. in the midst of this restlessness, we're sold a bill of goods - if we just buy this, go here, and experience that, then our dreams will come true. But God has given us so many gifts that we often miss. Jesus offers another way - a way of gratitude that helps us reclaim wonder.

From our earliest days we're told that we need to make it on our own in the world. Brutal self-reliance is labeled as maturity. Although we are unique individuals, we are not created for isolation and loneliness. Jesus offers us another way. This week we uncover what the way of community looks like and how this way can help us reclaim wonder.
