  • The Unusual Usuals

Tate takes the host seat alongside Paxton, Steve, and Cliff for an unusually entertaining episode that begins with questionable news headlines, Elvis sightings, ninja parades, and a surprising amount of lawn mowing conversation. Somehow, it all leads into a much deeper question: with more information available to us than ever before, are we actually becoming wiser, or just more anxious?

The guys unpack this week's message from Ecclesiastes and talk honestly about information overload, anxiety, the danger of being consumed by what we consume, and the importance of filtering our lives through God and His Word. Steve shares his own experience with the "Spider Monkey" of anxiety, Tate reflects on his struggle with constantly checking the news, and the conversation turns toward Scripture, trusted community, and knowing when to ask for help.

  • Walking Between the Ditches

This week, Josh is joined by Steve Buttram, Justin Eshenbaugh, and Tate Wells for a conversation centered around Paxton's message on the tension between pleasure, legalism, and the grace of God. Through practical examples ranging from family traditions and work habits to music, generosity, and Bible reading, the team explores what it looks like to avoid the ditches of chasing pleasure at all costs or trying to earn God's approval through performance. The discussion is honest, humorous, and full of practical wisdom for recognizing when good things begin to take God's rightful place.

The conversation also looks ahead to this week's message in Ecclesiastes and takes time to celebrate Justin as he prepares to begin a new season of ministry in North Carolina. The hosts reflect on God's faithfulness, the importance of following His calling, and the lasting impact of investing in others. Whether you're wrestling with finding balance in your own life or simply looking for encouragement, this episode offers thoughtful conversation that points back to the grace and wisdom found in Christ.

  • WINDS OF CHANGE Filling Buckets (Pleasure Doesn't Last) (07/05/2026)

Overarching: The problem is not pleasure; the problem is asking pleasure to do what

only God can. Anytime there is tension anxiety is often present. Examples of tension creating anxiety Balloon as it gets close to popping. Solomon in Ecclesiastes 2 is going to talk about pleasure and in the process identifies
some tensions that are created, and whenever we put things under tension we typically identify some weaknesses. I want to talk about a few of those tensions this morning but first lets read through the text together.

  • WINDS OF CHANGE- The Void We Chase (06/28/2026)

The things we chase can never satisfy the deepest longings of our hearts. Ecclesiastes reminds us that lasting peace is found not by pursuing more "under the sun," but by fixing our minds on God, whose presence fills the void, calms our anxiety, and gives our lives eternal purpose.

  • What's in Your Backpack?

***ATTENTION: Various portions of this episode have been redacted for listeners' safety.***

This week on Beyond Sunday, Justin Eshenbaugh, Josh Hensley, Paxton Redd, and Michael Shearon kick things off with a hilarious conversation about backpack essentials, camp memories, mosquitoes, and a few stories that probably should have stayed redacted. Beneath the laughter, the discussion turns toward one of the most practical challenges of the Christian life: carrying burdens. Drawing from Galatians 6, the team unpacks how healthy relationships require us to bear one another's burdens, accept personal responsibility, and practice genuine humility.

The conversation explores why sharing struggles can be difficult, how small groups create space for authentic community, and why simply saying "I'll pray for you" is often less powerful than praying with someone in the moment. The team also reflects on how God uses our hardships to shape us and equip us to help others. As summer camps, mission trips, and Father's Day approach, the episode serves as a reminder that none of us were meant to carry life's heaviest loads alone.

  • ALTARED – The Cake (06/14/2026)

The sweetest relationships are built on covenant care, where people humbly bear one another’s burdens while faithfully carrying their own responsibilities. Galatians 6 reminds us that we were never meant to walk alone, and that every act of support points back to Christ, who carried our greatest burden on the cross.

  • Holding On When Others Let You Down

Josh Hensley, Michael Shearon, Paxton Redd, and first-time guest Luke Terrell kick off the episode with a lighthearted conversation about loyalty, favorite restaurants, abandoned hobbies, group chats, and the many things people enthusiastically commit to before eventually moving on. The fun opener naturally leads into a deeper discussion about promises, why human promises often disappoint, and how those experiences can shape the way people think about commitment, trust, and faith.

The conversation then turns to Michael’s message, The Rings of Promise, exploring God’s covenant love, the certainty of His promises, and the role of the Holy Spirit as the guarantee of those promises. The team also answers a listener question about being baptized more than once, discussing when rebaptism may be appropriate and why baptism itself does not save. Throughout the episode, they encourage listeners to trust God’s faithfulness even when people, institutions, and circumstances fall short, reminding believers that every promise God makes will ultimately be fulfilled.
