Living on Purpose - "Show Kindness" - Mark 1:40-42
Kindness is patience put into action. Jesus shows this in His encounter with the leper—seeing him, listening to him, and even touching him. More than healing his body, Jesus restored his dignity and reconnected him to others. Simple acts of kindness—a word, a touch, a moment of listening—may last only seconds, but their impact can echo for a lifetime. Are you living with intentional kindness?

This week on the Beyond Sunday podcast, Josh Hensley, Michael Shearon, April Oatts, and Hannah Buttram gather around the table for a wide-ranging conversation that’s thoughtful, funny, and deeply rooted in everyday faith. A listener-submitted question sparks an honest discussion many people quietly wrestle with at the start of a new year: Where do you even begin when it comes to reading the Bible? The conversation explores different starting points, personal rhythms, and why Scripture is meant to shape us—not overwhelm us.
The episode also takes a turn toward missions with a fun game that highlights upcoming trips and reminds us that God is at work everywhere—from small towns to global cities. Along the way, the team reflects on how faith shows up in different cultures, why presence matters more than pressure, and how mission isn’t just about going far, but faithfully loving right where you are. It’s an encouraging listen that blends wisdom, laughter, and a fresh vision for how God invites His people to join what He’s already doing.
Living on Purpose - "Begin with Patience" - 1 Corinthians 13:4; Luke 8:40-56
Patience is one of the first casualties of our hurried, self-focused lives. We struggle to be patient with our families, coworkers, and even strangers because we are busy and convinced our time is too important to give away. Yet patience may be the hardest—and most essential—habit to cultivate. In this episode, we see how Jesus, even in the most urgent and demanding moments of His life, moved through the pressure of crowds and suffering people with grace, focus, and deep love. At the heart of His patience was a clear understanding of time and a willingness to share it. If we hope to truly love others, patience isn’t optional—it’s foundational.

From there, the focus turns to Sunday’s message and the call to live and love on purpose. The group unpacks how drift and autopilot quietly shape our habits, relationships, and motives, often without us realizing it. Walking through the message’s key themes, they discuss how love shows up through our words, the thoughts we allow to take root, the way faith expresses itself, how generosity shapes the heart, and the danger of doing good things for recognition rather than obedience. The conversation stays grounded and practical, challenging listeners to examine motives, slow down, guard their thoughts, and follow Jesus with sincerity—especially in the unseen, everyday moments where true love is formed.
Living on Purpose - "The Heart of it All" - 1 Corinthians 12:31b-1 Corinthians 13:3; Matthew 22:34-40
Love is at the heart of it all. Jesus called us to love God and love people—simple in words, yet challenging in practice. Too often, our good intentions are crowded out by hurry, distraction, and misplaced priorities. But what if we chose to love with purpose, devotion, and a genuine commitment to put others first? Living with intentional, wholehearted love has the power to transform our relationships, our churches, and even the world. That’s exactly what Jesus came to do—and He invites us to carry that love forward. In the weeks ahead, we’ll explore this essential calling and discover what it truly means to be people who love, even beyond reason.
As 2025 comes to a close, Steve Buttram, Paxton Redd, Michael Shearon, and Josh Hensley gather around the table to reflect on a year marked by God’s faithfulness—from launching a new campus to walking through personal challenges with hope and peace. With laughter, honesty, and a few unforgettable “hot tips” (yes… brown your butter), the team looks back on how God has been present in both the big moments and the ordinary rhythms of life.
The conversation then turns forward, exploring how to step into a new year without pressure—choosing grace, intentionality, diligence, and dependence on God over unrealistic resolutions. The episode closes by inviting listeners to reflect alongside the team: What are you carrying forward into the new year, and what is God inviting you to finally lay down? It’s a meaningful, joy-filled way to close one season and open another—together.

After Christmas Treasures - Luke 2:25-35
The season after Christmas invites us to slow down and reflect on the true meaning of the celebration. Like Mary and Joseph, who paused, pondered, and prayed as they parented Jesus, this is a time to seek deeper understanding. When we take time to pause, think, pray, and reflect, we discover the real treasures of Christmas—wonder, amazement, and lasting joy found in the journey with God.
Everything You're Looking For - "God Is With Us" - Isaiah 7:14
God is with us—and He is for us. From the very beginning, when sin first separated humanity from the Father, God promised redemption. That promise is fulfilled in Jesus, the offspring who would crush the enemy and put an end to our powerlessness. In the incarnation, God showed up for us. Jesus came not only to defeat sin, but to walk with us—offering His presence, comfort, wisdom, and assurance every day. Whatever we face in life, we never face it alone. He is with us.
In this special Christmas episode of Beyond Sunday, Josh Hensley and Michael Shearon are joined by their wives, Heather Hensley and Laina Shearon, for a joyful, honest, and laughter-filled conversation reflecting on Christmas, family, and ministry. From hilarious childhood gift stories and nostalgic candlelight memories to matching pajamas and favorite traditions, this episode feels like sitting in the living room with close friends—warm, personal, and full of heart.
As the conversation deepens, the group reflects on the unique weight and beauty of Christmas in ministry, the behind-the-scenes partnership of spouses, and the gratitude that comes from looking back on God’s faithfulness through the year. Thoughtful reflections on shepherds, wise men, and the meaning behind their gifts gently center the conversation on Jesus—the greatest gift of all—and invite listeners to slow down, cherish the people in the room, and step into Christmas with renewed wonder and joy.

Everything You're Looking For - "Wrapping Up Christmas...with LOVE" - 1 John 4:9-11; Nehemiah 9:17; John 13:34-35
Love is something we all talk about, sing about, and long for—yet our search for it often leaves us feeling empty. Scripture reminds us that true love is found in God, whose love never fails. That unfailing love is fully revealed in Jesus. As John 3:16 declares, God so loved the world that He gave His Son. When we receive this kind of love, it changes how we live. We are called to love one another, reflecting the same selfless, enduring love God has shown to us.
