The critically acclaimed musical Come From Away is set to run for an extended stay at the Civic Theatre Newcastle in February 2023; the first time in 30 years that a Broadway smash hit has come to Newcastle.

Come From Away shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world who were grounded in Canada in the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that sprang into action to welcome the ‘come from aways’ into their lives.

We caught up with Civic Theatre Manager Leonie Wallace to hear what this significant move means to the reputation of the Civic and WHEN you can start getting your tickets.

Ms Hornery joined us to discuss these extremely concerning claims about the "peak" hospital in the region.

Scott Bevan's play, The Rest is Silence centres on a man, Dan Bedford, who wants to be an actor but only is employed to put together and deliver eulogies at funerals, with one terminally ill man determined to have some control over what is said about his past.

And gradually that past is revealed.

30 years after the reading of his first play, not one dream but two are being realised for Scott. A play he has written is being staged in his hometown, and the extraordinary Barry Shepherd is playing the lead role.

A bill to outlaw coercive control will be introduced to the NSW Parliament this week, after Attorney

General Mark Speakman gave formal notice in Parliament today.

If passed, NSW will become the first Australian state or territory to have a dedicated stand-alone

offence of coercive control.

Coercive control is a form of domestic abuse that involves patterns of behaviour that have the

cumulative effect of denying victim-survivors their autonomy and independence.
