Thousands of Mat-Su residents are hunkering down as high winds continue to rock the valley, leaving many without power amid harsh winter conditions.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) announced on Nov. 12, that they will reorganize the Center for Teaching and Learning, which includes slashing staff positions and some programs.

Alaska leads the nation in package theft, and this holiday season the state’s postal inspector is warning the problem is getting worse, with criminals using sophisticated scams to steal credit card numbers and personal data from unsuspecting shoppers.
