    A Chikaming Township community has been named by HGTV as the most expensive place in Michigan to live.

    In today's news:

    Holtec International has officially closed on a $1.52 billion loan from the U.S. Department of Energy to restart the Palisades nuclear power plant. 

    The cleanup of Ox Creek has gotten a boost now that the former Modern Plastics property in Benton Harbor has been purchased by Harbor Shores.

    Benton Harbor leaders are working to address a major challenge to the city's Dial A Ride service. Dial a Ride was dropped by its insurance holder last week.

  • WSJM Sports Player of the Week - Sophia Pierangeli - St. Joseph Swimming

    The WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Sophia Pierangeli of St. Joseph girls swimming.   Sophia is a sophomore at St. Joe


    St. Joe won all four of their meets last week to improve to 7-0 on the season.
    Sophia won each event she competed in, during the dual meet with Portage Northern and Harper creek she won in medley relay, the 200 free relay, the 50 free, and the 100 back.   In the double dual with South Haven and Unity Christian, Sophia won the medley relay, 400 free relay, the 50 free and 100 free.  She had qualified for state in every event except one.  

    She’s in band, plays three sports at St. Joe and carries a 4.0 GPA. 

    Our WSJM Sports Player of the Week is Sophia Pierangeli of St. Joseph Girls Swimming.

    Today in Sports

    • The 2024 MLB regular season comes to an end as the White Sox end their miserable season on a happy note with the 9-5 win over the Tigers.  The Tigers move on and will face Houston in the AL Wild Card round starting Tuesday.   The Cubs season ends with a 3-0 loss to the Reds in 10 innings.
    • NFL.  The Bears beat the LA Rams 24-18, and the Colts beat previously unbeaten Pittsburgh 27-24.
    • The Lions square off against Seattle tonight on Monday Night Football at 8:15 from Ford Field. the pregame on Rock 107 WIRX is at 7:10.
    • College football this weekend, Michigan, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Notre Dame were winners,  Western Michigan and Michigan State fall.
    • New AP Rankings have Alabama back on top.
    • NHL preseason tonight, Red Wings to split up to play two games, one at Buffalo, one at home against Pittsburgh.
