"The nearness of God is our good." This is the cry and comfort of God's people in the midst of trials and it is the comfort of the disciples of Christ while on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus is continually demonstrating His glory as the Son of God and His grace as He trains to the disciples to trust Him, follow Him, and remain steadfast through all of life and ministry. Our comfort in trials is that I AM is with us in them!

The glory of God in the compassion of God to sinners is a profoundly comforting and worship producing truth and is no more clearly displayed than in the life of the incarnate Son of God, Jesus Christ. Matthew is heading to the main miracle feeding the multitude, but to take us there he travels through the glorious presentation of the tender affection and compassionate power of our sovereign Christ.
