Next Music Online

Next is your place for new music discovery. As always, our goal is to find you – a NEXT, new favorite song. Let us know how we are doing. Please and thank you.

Radio Company is former Days of our Lives actor and his writing buddy. Sounds good. I’ve been waiting quite long for the return of The Pernice Brothers. We also have dreamy indie pop from LA from Saint Motel. Lucille Furs remind us that the 60s were groovy and cool. And they are from Chicago. Gotta love those Chicago boys. Blue October. Live. Ronnie Wood With His Wild Five. Live. Cover. Yes, him of the Faces and the Stones hanging with his buddies as they play Chuck Berry tunes. And X is back with an old tune finally recorded in the studio.

More unreleased Prince. Not sure how to feel about it as he rarely shared…but the music lover in me says “Give me all of it”. Listen closely that’s him hitting record of the cassette tape. Do you remember cassette tapes? Illiterate Light is a cool duo from VA and out on tour opening for Rainbow Kitten Surprise…great double bill. And I think I remember reading they were (are) farmers. Grace Potter sounds brilliant on this tune.

G Love hanging out with Keb Mo. G and Keb like PB and J. They just go together. I hope they record more together. I’d love to see them together on tour. Wild Child singer goes solo with Sir Woman. John Myrtle reminds us again this week that yesteryear had some cool vibes. Jim James recorded with Louisville Orchestra. And we get it but really Liam Gallagher just reform please. Thank you in advance from all Oasis lovers.

Thanks for listening and thanks again to Ocean 98 for putting next on the radio.

New music discovery is important and thank you for doing your part.

Please support these bands…or we wouldn’t have bands like this around to support. Buy an album, or a ticket to a show, or a tee shirt, or…something from them. Thank you.

If there are any bands/managers/labels etc that want their music removed (for any reason) please contact me (chris at allthingsnext dot com) and I’ll promptly remove it. Thank you, bands, for making music. Thank you for making my life better because of the music you make. I am a passionate music consumer as are my listeners. If you think NEXT streaming music is bad please think it over again. I am a music maker advocate.

This week on NEXT. Freddie is back with a box set…more The Mats, and much more.

Squid is a 5 piece from UK. I’ve never seen them live. But please tell me they are brilliant live. Please. They sound fun as hell. girl in red is a 20 year old from Norway. 20. Bloody hell. The Replacements with the un released “We Know The Night” Tom Waits stopped by while they were recording. And magic happened. And drinking. Paul has always known how to turn a phrase. This song rings quite true. They didn’t (still might not) know wrong and right but they know the night. Yes, they do. Understatement really. The only truer line might be “one foot in the door – they other one in the gutter”. And did you think I was kidding about playing their whole box set? I might stop now though…maybe

Beabadoobee. Did you think a 20 year old was impressive? She’s a 19 year old Londoner. Starcrawler – They lean close to The Runaways. Evan Bartels is a Nebraska boy that calls Nashville home now. Kate Tempest. Hey look another brit from London. Crossing the big pond a lot this week. Ohtis with a brilliant addiction and recover album. Dylan LeBlanc covers INXS.

Freddie Mercury has a box set coming out sometime in the near distant future. Marcus King going solo I do miss the horns. And we end with The Allman Betts Band. You know the name Allman. You know Betts. And yes it sounds the way you’d like it to sound.

Wilco’s latest is quietly cool and beautiful. It’s mostly about finding good in the bad times we are in right now. A lot of Chicago this week. Ok, not a lot, but a few. Karl Denson is just a cool cat. Sax for the Stones tour. This great album

What a week.

Liz Phair is back after a decade. As if her book wasn’t enough. Can’t wait to read it. Recently finished Jeff Tweedy’s, The Replacements, and Beastie Boys books. Who says things happen in 3’s. Speaking of The Mats – I’m sure you knew I would play more of the box set this week. Hell, I may keep playing 2 songs each week until I get through the full musical collection. As you know I feel it’s Beatles. Stones, then The Replacements. You can’t argue science.

The Nick Cave is sadly, beautiful. Yes, stolen (heavily borrowed) from The Replacements. (I think in music) (Sometimes) (Most of the time) It’s an album about his son’s death. Put this one on late at night. On the other end of the spectrum is Hiss Golden Messenger. An album about family. Love. And, well, dealing with family and love.

DIIV is heavy and dreamy. How can one be dreamy and heavy. Take a listen. You’ll see. Hear. You know what I mean.

I wouldn’t go through every song. Maybe I should. What do you think?

I listened to a lot of Eddie Money in High School. A bit in college. College – that was grunge time though. Seattle took over quite quickly. There are a few college friends that probably thought about me after hearing the news. I know he (or his people) followed me on Twitter. That was a very cool notification to get. Eddie Money is now following you.

The Cars. I have a lot of great memories (and vague memories) of this band. Added bonus – quite sure The Cars were Kate’s first concert. That’s pretty cool.

Next is your place for new music discovery and also a general love of music. The goal of NEXT is to find you – a NEXT, new favorite song. Let us know how we are doing. Or don’t. Really it’s up to you. We’d rather hear from you what made your ears smile. And get it. Life. You are busy. We’re just happy you are still searching out great new music. Thank you. Music is Life.

Enjoy it all

Ok. Back to the music. Thanks for listening. If you like what you hear. Let us know. Tell friend. A neighbor. A stranger on the street.
