Hey family,

There have been so many times when I thought I'd never be able to forgive myself--for things that I said, actions that I took, even thoughts that I had that I wish I could take back. In our last week of THE GRUDGE series we're going to talk about how the hardest person to forgive can be yourself. We're going to talk about what the gospel says about self-forgiveness and how we can apply it to our lives.

Forgiveness is an important part of any marriage, friendship, or work environment. We all get to a point where we offend someone and need to forgive them—or we are offended by them and need to extend forgiveness. The question is, how do you do it without getting bitter?

This Sunday, April 2, is Palm Sunday--the day that commemorates Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a young donkey as hundreds cheer and praise him. Jesus entered the city knowing he would be tried and crucified. Still he welcomed his fate, knowing that he would rise from the grave and save us all from sin.

Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week, the remembrance of Jesus' last days. Good Friday will be this coming Friday, the 7th, and Easter is April 9. Please take this opportunity to bring friends and family to praise God for sending His son to earth, and our eternal life in Christ Jesus. --Edwin

Hey family,

Many of the horrors and the sorrows that we’ve experienced in our lives have been self-inflicted wounds. Things that we’ve done because we judged ourselves so harshly, we can only respond with negative actions. Some of the vicious words we say to ourselves we would never say to anyone else—because if we did, we’d have no friends to speak of. “You’re stupid. You’re ugly. You’ll never amount to anything. Why did you think you could do that? You’re so dumb.” All of these phrases have one thing in common, which is that they are narratives and scripts that we’ve developed throughout our lives and use on ourselves in an unconscious way—we don’t even realize we’re doing it.

So the question is, how can we be free of self-hatred? That’s what we’re going to spend our time discussing this Sunday. The gospel has much to say about the self-hatred that we’ve struggled with our whole lives. Please bring your family and invite a friend.

Hey family,

Some of the most crushing insults we ever receive come from parents, teachers, or friends—but there’s nothing more debilitating than the kind of language we use on ourselves. This is self-hatred. A negative script that runs through our mind can make it impossible to move forward in relationships, find a new job, even dream for better things. This week we’re going to be talking about self-hatred, and how the gospel can banish that awful concept from our lives. Please come and bring a friend.
