Hi, friends! Welcome to the Nia Conversations Podcast with me, Siya Ben. I hope you're well and taking care of yourself. Remember, no matter what you're going through, life has a way of working itself out.
In today's episode, as part of our "Healing through Connection" series, we're focusing on rebuilding trust after trauma. Trusting again, whether it's in ourselves, others, or even in God, can be incredibly challenging after experiencing deep pain. I'll share my personal journey, starting with the day of my assault and how it altered my life and relationships. I'll talk about the struggles with trust, the initial anger and confusion, and the moments of feeling let down by God.
I’ll also read an excerpt from my journal in 2013, where I captured the raw emotions and challenges I faced. And we'll dive into the healing process—how I learned to trust God again, to be honest and open about my pain, and to rebuild meaningful connections with my loved ones. My therapist taught me the importance of understanding people's capacities to support us, which allowed me to set healthier expectations and cultivate trust in a more gentle, accepting way.
As we wrap up, I’ll leave you with a question to reflect on: What does trust look like in your own life, and how can you nurture it in a way that honors your journey?
Thank you for listening, for opening your heart, and for walking this journey with me. Be kind and gentle with yourself, and I look forward to our next conversation.
