I tell a tale of a makeup artist who SWORE she knew what she was doing, fear of angry-black-girl stereotyping, and a valuable lesson learned. Ladies of color, don't let someone botch your face and hair, especially if you're not being paid for it, or if you are paying them. White stylists, for the love of God, PLEEEEASE learn how to do curly hair and darker faces. If you can't, just be upfront, save us both some heartbreak and embarrassment. WOC already have a hard time feeling beautiful with all the narrow standards of beauty that are imposed on us. You can help by doing us the respect of learning how to cater to our beauty needs, or just don't touch it, please and shmank you
