  • Ep. 52: The Changeling (1980)

    By George! It's a ghost!

This week, Cody and Matt volunteer at the local historical society to search the files for any potential haunted houses. Luckily for them, they found one! It's a mysterious tale where they discuss hidden identities, George C. Scott's incredible hair, and the terrifying ways a ghost can communicate. They also talk enduring haunted house tropes and symbolic representations of grief while trying their best to lock down an Eartha Kitt impression. What can we say? New year, same Night Howls.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Ep. 51: The Howlers '22

    Happy Howlidays!

This week, Matt and Cody celebrate their first year as a pod by strolling down memory lane and reflecting on this amazing year of Horror. Afterwards, they jump straight out of a two-story window and present a plethora of awards to many of the films they covered this year including: Most Brutal Kill, Outstanding Animal, Howler's Choice, The Doomsayer Ribbon Recipient, and of course the most contentious, The Fred Gwynne Veteran Character Actor of the Year. Will Fred Gwynne take his namesake prize? Will either host survive the bloodbath? Only one way to find out!

  • Ep. 50: Pearl (2022)

I'll get you my pretty, and your little crocodile too!

It's time to fire up those projectors and take a swig of straight morphine because we have got a star for you! This week, Cody and Matt discuss the horror performance of the year, manic moms who monologue, and what it takes to be an X-citing prequel. The boys uncover some fascinating parallels during a quick detour into Oz and eventually find themselves back on the farm with a Fred Gwynne Veteran Character Actor Award nominee for the books.

So grab your pitchforks, axes, or a boiling pot of corn water! It's showtime!

  • Ep. 49: Barbarian (2022)

Your stay at the Scare BnB begins now!

This week, Matt and Cody pulled the secret passage opening rope and fell into one of the biggest surprise hits of the year, Barbarian! The boys talk spontaneous narrative structure, beleaguered basement creatures, logic hits and misses, how certain characters would fare in 90's sitcoms, and cement Scream King status for Mr. Long and Mr. Skarsgard. Not to mention, Cody absolutely goes off on his least favorite trope of the year...a few times.

Grab a flashlight and leave a crack in the door. Night Howls is going barbaric!

    Thanks for listening!

  • Ep. 48: Deadstream (2022)

The influencer is screaming from inside the house...

This week, Cody and Matt enter the chat with another Shudder exclusive! They talk impeccable bits, influencer culture, and then have a slight existential breakdown once they realize that they too are lonely creatures crying out for attention on a public forum. It's another rousing week for the Fred Gwynne Veteran Character Actor Award as the boys consider the possibility that a chatroom as a whole might have big FGVCAA energy.

Grab your favorite poetry book and meet Mildred in the crawlspace for what may be the funniest movie covered all year!

Thanks for listening. . . and SMASH that 5-star review!

  • Ep. 47: Watcher (2022)

    Let the visual puns begin!

This week, Matt and Cody begin a November run of 2022 releases with one of the buzziest Shudder Exclusives of the year, Watcher! The boys chat about effective simplicity, Rear Window and other classic homages, the dangers of city living, and why exactly Maika Monroe can't escape invisible threats. Not to mention, public window indecency, uncaring boyfriends, and extremely caring chicken connoisseurs. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked as these two lose their heads over this edgy thriller.

  • Ep. 46: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

    It's astounding. . .

This week, Cody and Matt conclude their Howl-o-ween Double Feature with the biggest party this side of Transylvania! They discuss the crown jewel of cult cinema while going absolutely feral over Tim Curry. Not to mention, jumps to the left, steps to the right, and the importance of community on the fringe.

The boys gush over Patricia Quinn (again) and find any excuse to sing a show tune (again). So, don't dream it. . . be it!

Thanks for listening and have a Happy Halloween!

Trick 'r Treat, smell our feet. Give us two horror cult classics to eat!

This week, Matt and Cody start their special Howl-o-ween Double Feature with Trick 'r Treat! The boys talk dubious principals, hair-raising teens, sexy nature tapes, haunted bus lagoons, and the cutest kid to wear burlap on their head since a young Jason Voorhees. Lock your doors eight times, don't puke all your candy, and most importantly, leave the jack-o-latern lit as the podcast goes into overdrive and straight off a cliff, if it hasn't already.

  • Ep. 44: Halloween Ends (2022)

We're going to show grief our WHAT NOW?!

After three weeks in beautiful suburban Haddonfield, the boys find themselves crawling through the sewers in search of closure. Do they find it? Does this grand finale lay Michael Myers to rest and respectfully send off the greatest final girl to ever grace the silver screen? Turns out, they've got some thoughts about that.

This week, Cody and Matt start off with a chat about Cody’s birthday weekend including their epic trip to Halloween Horror Nights. After, they move on to pre-viewing speculation before hopping on the back of motorcycle into spoiler territory for the franchise’s final showdown. They talk big narrative choices, third act expectations, and Laurie Strode's role in her own farewell. They also discuss moldy Michael's hobbies and the most dastardly marching band in the midwest.  It's one part Halloween, two parts Stephen King, and a whole lot of Corey! Say goodbye to the boogeyman because we are leaving Haddonfield. . . one way or another!
