Country music’s resident rocker, HARDY, is preparing to become a Dad and while he admits he’s never changed a diaper, that’s not what scares him most about his new role.
The 34-year-old recently caught-up with Audacy’s Gunner & Cheyenne ahead of his headlining set at KMLE’s Beers with Friends acoustic show this week, and opened up about what terrifies him most about becoming a Dad.
“My wife’s dad, who I adore, was a Navy SEAL,” he explained. “Caleigh, my wife, was a very colicky baby and so, for a year and a half of her life, she cried all day every day. When I hear a Navy SEAL, a real life SEAL Team Navy SEAL say, ‘The worst I have ever felt tortured was hearing my child cry, every day, all day for a year and a half’ — that scares the living s*** out of me. That scares me to death.”
While clearly aware of some of the challenges that will come his way as a first-time Dad, HARDY says he’s also looking forward to all the highs and shares he’ll have zero hesitation writing songs about his experiences… once he has them. “I feel like to really dig in and try to write those kid songs, it’s something that I don’t want to fake and I know that I’m going to have to experience a little bit of that real dad life before I try to even dive into that world,” he explained.
Sounds like plenty of experience is in his future as he revealed wife Caleigh hopes to have four kids which HARDY shares he is “OK with.” “Caleigh wants four.,I’m OK with that,” he shared. “I love the idea of a family unit. My grandfather was one of ten… of all of those kids, my grandfather had my dad, who had me, which was a son, so I have to have sons to continue our family name.”
No word on whether or not his first-born will be a son, but HARDY says the gender reveal is coming soon.
