Nitecap True Crime

It's time for your monthly dose of Murder Match-Up!

What is Murder Match-Up, you ask? We are each randomly given a letter and number, then go to Murderpedia.org, and we grab the case that corresponds with the letter and number.
Murderpedia is like Wikipedia but for murderers, it is indexed by the murderer's last name. It's like speed dating, but for murderers.

This week, Brittany tells us about Jennifer San Marco, and the Goleta Postal Center massacre.
Gavin talks about Christopher George Theodore Lamar, who committed a senseless murder, and then partied with friends after.
Suzi's case is reminiscent of her first killer on Nitecap: Gary Alan Walker, also known as The Roaming Rapist, who spent three weeks in 1984 terrorizing the nation, and leaving five dead bodies behind.

Join Gavin, Suzi, and Brittany each week as we take you on a thrill ride adventure into the juicy details surrounding famous and unheard-of cases.

Things can get a little rough, so listener discretion is advised.

Arson and Murder seem to go hand in hand
In this episode, we stoke the coals under two cases, both of which

Drugs and alcohol are easy to come by. You can get em at the grocery store, or on the corner. These cases are so commonplace, it's like a broken record.

On July 26, 2009, Diane Schuler began the drive home from a family camping trip with her two children and three nieces in the car. Four hours later Diane was seen driving the wrong way on the Taconic Parkway for nearly 2 miles, before crashing head-on into another car. Eight of the nine people involved were dead. And there were more questions than answers.

After spending the day at the beach on May 26, 2012, Rudy Eugene viciously attacked a homeless man, Ronald Poppo, leaving behind a gruesome and horrific scene unlike anything we’ve ever seen (yes, there are pictures). The details are disgusting, and the questions are never answered.

Just when you think it couldn't get any worse...oh it does.

Special guest Scotty Morgan dives deep into a terrifying story of torture and survival.

Lois Pearson, an independent,  sweet, woman of devout faith finds herself in a horrific situation. Jeffrey Maxwell, only to be described as the epitome of evil, spends six years festering over being turned down and rejected. What he does next is not for the faint of heart.

Dating Apps have become very commonplace in our culture...and they may be making it easier for creeps to prey on unsuspecting users.

On Christmas Eve 2019, 25-year old Kevin Bacon left his home in Swartz Creek, MI to meet up with a man he had met on Grindr, 50-year old Mark Latunski. What was supposed to be a night of fun quickly turned into a night of horror, which left a scene that officers say was one of the most grisly they’d ever seen. Please be warned, this story gets a little heavy.

Between 2012-2015, Stephen Port drugged and raped at least 11 young gay men in Barking, East London. At least 4 of those men also had their lives taken from them. Port then constructed “wicked and monstrous lies” to cover up his crimes, until he was finally caught in 2015.

This week, we look at two cases where the victims disappeared, never to be seen again.

Monika Rizzo disappeared on May 5, 1997. She left work without any of her personal belongings, and her boss was unable to reach her, until 8 days later when she said she hadn’t been feeling well and would return to work the following Monday. She was never seen again. Well, not alive at least...

4th of July weekend 1966, three friends - Patty Blough, Renee Bruhl, and Ann Miller - left their homes in Chicago to spend the day at the beach. When none of the women returned home that night, missing persons reports were filed and the search began. Their bodies were never found. Several theories circled around the mystery, including a planned escape, a botched abortion, and a criminal horse betting circle.
