Host Ryan Wrecker returns to the big chair here at KMOX.  He opens the hour recapping New Year’s Eve in his house.  He says they started out by looking through the various streaming services for something to watch and after coming up empty handed they turned to the old standby of various “Ball Drop” programming.  Ryan takes your calls about what you did.  Ryan then takes us through the various networks shows including CNN broadcasting from a Pot Party and Kathy Griffin on Fox News’s show.  After that we dive into the year-end look at Policing Saint Louis.  And the first shooting incident of 2018 is being ruled an accident by officials.  Ryan wraps the hour by talking about a charity event that went on despite the cold; water skiing on the Riverfront.

Why is it so cold?  You may have undoubtedly noticed that the temps outside have been dangerously cold.  Host Ryan Wrecker spoke with AccuWeather Meteorologist Dave Bowers about the Polar Vortex and what is going on with the temperatures.  After that Ryan reviews some of the new laws taking effect starting today.  One such law now allows you to get an original copy of your birth certificate.  This allows people who have been adopted to find their birth parents.  In Illinois, persons at age 16 and 17 can now register themselves for the organ donor registry when they get their license.  Another new law on the books is creating custody plans for your pets.  Ryan wants to know what is going on with the Amazon HQ2 bid.  He shares some information about proposals from around North America that were released in a Singapore newspaper.  Ryan ends the hour with a bombshell story about a Hillary Clinton backer who paid 500 thousand dollars to fund Trump Sexual harassment accusers.

Google released their list of most searched things in 2017 and Host Ryan Wrecker runs through the list with us on the show.  Ryan, says a lot of things we remember from 2017 were intentionally hyped by businesses. Do you remember the Starbucks offering the Unicorn Frappuccino® or McDonald’s failing at offering the Szechuan Sauce?  After that we recap the top news stories of 2017.   Next, Ryan talks about taking the small things for granted.  Did you realize that the Winter Olympic are only a month away?  Ryan shares his concerns over security with the games being hosted in South Korea. 

Every morning we share something good with you and we invite you to call in and share with us your stories.  Host Ryan Wrecker begins with a story of the first baby of the year in the Saint Louis area.  A listener called in to share with us a story of her 89-year-old father not getting many Christmas Cards anymore.  After the listener posted online their father received over 3000 cards.   Wrecker then shares a story about an Iranian woman who made the decision to stand against their countries requirement of wearing a hijab.  After that Ryan takes more of your calls.

Guest-host Freddy Mertz opens tonight’s show discussing the decision to disallow horse-drawn carriages at Winter Wonderland in Tilles Park when the temperature is below 15 degrees. Callers weigh in with their takes on the matter.
