Cops are going to have to change the way they talk, act, and the way they treat people, and we'll all need to change for them to win the trust of the community back. Dr. Ken believes if the cops don't want to do that then they should just quit.

Five former Memphis police officers were indicted on charges including murder and kidnapping for their actions during the arrest of Tyre Nichols earlier this month. The charges were announced by Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy. The officers, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Justin Smith, Emmit Martin, and Desmond Mills Jr., have each been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two charges of aggravated kidnapping, two charges of official misconduct and one charge of official oppression.

Joanna Williams joins The Truth in the afternoon with Dr.Ken Harris. She discusses a new documentary film t"Exchange in White America" The Exchange. In White America. Kaukauna & King 50 Years Later is a documentary about a student exchange program that took place in 1966 between Rufus King High School and Kaukauna High School in Milwaukee. The program aimed to broaden the students' perspectives and spark conversations about racial understanding in their communities during the Civil Rights era. The documentary, directed and produced by Milwaukee native Joanne Williams, who was a student at Rufus King at the time, explores the impact of the exchange program on its participants, both as teenagers and as adults looking back on their experiences. The film will be shown at the Oriental Theater as part of the Cultures and Communities Festival.

Dr. Ken Harris spoke about plans to build a new juvenile detention facility in Milwaukee that are moving forward after the Milwaukee Common Council voted in favor of rezoning the construction of the facility. The facility at 7030 W. Clinton Ave. will replace the state's existing youth prison, Lincoln Hills School for Boys and Copper Lake School for Girls, located outside Irma. The last action needed for the youth prison is Mayor Cavalier Johnson's signature. The Milwaukee Common Council's Zoning, Neighborhoods and Development Committee voted 5-0, approving the rezoning and then the proposal headed to the full Milwaukee Common Council. The Tuesday vote approved rezoning the property from industrial light to detailed planned development, which will now allow construction.
