July 29, 2019Todd Feinburg: The Great Plastic Bag Caper (7/29/19)A new 10 cent tax on plastic bags will be implimented in Connecticut this week, Len Suzio explains that because of the way grocery chains are reacting to the new law going into effect, the state will likely lose out on most of a projected revenue stream of $54 million. Instead of charging the 10 cents/bag and turning that over to the state, grocers will get rid of plastic bags altogether then collect a 10 cent per bag charge for paper bags, keeping that money for themselves.
