How avoiding being visible is a risky game to play

    • Top 3 reasons women avoid taking the risk to be visible
    • Benefits of staying hidden
    • Staying small is not an option when you have big plans

Today's episode is for you if you are still telling yourself that it is too risky to start being more visible.

You worry that raising your profile will step on others toes or question yourself and whether you are good enough to even start sharing your opinions and speaking up.

This one's for you because I want you to see how staying small and not taking risks is the riskiest thing that you could do in terms of your career progression and making that impact that I know you want to make.

See how taking risks can lead to awesome things, that maybe you keep missing out on and how missing out is probably the riskiest decision you will actually make.

"Everyone thinks that being visible is high risk. Putting yourself out there risking your reputation and credibility. When in fact the opposite is true. Not being visible or getting noticed is even more risky." - Gemma Stow

How to enjoy self promotion and talking about yourself
    • Quick win episode - take action today
    • What others cringey tactics mean for your visibility
    • The one thing you can use to feel better about talking about yourself

Today is another quick win episode and we like quick wins at No More Hiding HQ because ultimately that's what I am all about - sharing something that will help you take action and get a result.

This in turn boosts your confidence and then you'll move onto the next quick win and so on. Before we know it you are super happy with your own visibility and are ultimately being recognised, rewarded and valued by those who matter and you are owning your expertise all over the place!

So many women I work with tell me they hate talking about themselves...that they find it really uncomfortable and awkward - when they see other people talking about themselves it can sometimes feel cringeworthy to them and that's why they don't do it themselves.

So how do you find the way that will work for you?

Listen in to today's episode because when you do, you will realise that self promotion and being more visible can actually be fun - especially when it's aligned with who you are and your values then it starts to make absolute sense.

Don't forget you can get my monthly NEWSLETTER that shares the latest around the gender pay gap, book recommendations and good practices that are happening all over the place that support more women to step up and be recognised for the value they bring.

  • 120. Re-release - How to get back into the visibility game after some time out

How to get back into the visibility game after some time out

    Quick Win Episode!

"The antidote to this overthinking is of course taking action and we know that by taking action, confidence grows and results happen!"

As we hit September 2022 I wanted to share this re-release with you from last September! It's always a great idea to think about how you can get back into the swing of things when it comes to your visibility especially if you have taken some time out.

I am hoping that you have managed to have some time away from work over the summer months as you know I always bang on about how important it is - but it can equally be tricky to get back into the swing of things and catch up on all the emails that have landed in your inbox never mind thinking about your own visibility and what you want.

So I thought a short and to the point quick win episode to get you back into the swing of things would help - in this episode I share 3 things you can start to do to get back into it all without feeling overwhelmed….

So let me know what you think - have you been having a break from being visible?

Does it feel daunting to get back into it or are you looking forward to it?

Maybe the break has given you time to reflect and realise what you really want and now it's all about making those plans and goals become a reality.

Re-Release - How better feedback can make all the difference

I want to talk about the importance of feedback.

This is the thing with feedback - if done well it can be a great tool to support growth - if done badly it can really hold women back.

I talk about both of these things today and also not forgetting that feedback shouldn't be the only thing we rely on to grow and move forward and I will share some ways you can do this for yourself too!

Have you ever been told "you are great at your job - keep doing what you are doing" from a line manager or someone more senior to you. And you were expecting something a little more specific, something that you could sink your teeth into and something that well would actually help you and your career progression.

Research including that from the HBR (Harvard business review) has found that vague feedback is actually holding women back and they are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to promotion and we need more women at those decision making tables.

Don't forget you can get my monthly email "Visibility Matters" that shares the latest around the gender pay gap, visibility, allyship, self promotion and good practice that is happening all over the place that support more women to step up and companies to recognise the value they bring.

Re-Release - How to identify and really own your strengths

    • Quick Win!

I promised a quick win episode today on the back of the results I found when working with a lot of women in a short space of time through all the IWD training workshops.

The thing that was obvious and a lot of women feedback to me either in the groups or privately was not being clear on their strengths.

I find this a lot - as women we often forget what has led us to where we are today. All the life and work experiences, the good the bad and the ugly - all of them have made you who you are. Yet when asked what strengths you have - you have to stop and think about it for too long. This is your power. This is what makes you who you are and this is definitely the thing that is going to stand you apart and give the edge when that next opportunity comes along at work that may just be the gamechanger for your career.

Try the steps I share in this quick episode and then go try them out!

I want to hear from you today - yes today drop me a message on LinkedIn, instagram @nomorehidingco or even facebook if you must or even better email me [email protected] and let me know that you are going to do this and even better you are going to use this to play bigger. Let me know today. Do it, take action and get a quick win! It really does give you a confidence boost and you never know where it will lead.

Re-Release - sharing this episode to help you nail those intros!

How to nail your introduction so people remember you and help you out.

    • How to intro yourself without using your title
    • Why talking about what you want (not only what you do is important)

Today I wanted to get back to basics when it comes to those uncomfortable introductions. I can still remember at events or training when the trainer goes around the room and asks people to introduce themselves or plays some kind of cringeworthy ice breaker and I could literally feel that dread feeling wash over me and all I wanted to do was make a run for it! I will be totally honest, my personality hasn't changed and these kind of things still make my eyes roll.

Introductions are so important and you can use them to get what you want too!
