How do you stop putting everyone else before yourself and your career?
Today's quick win episode and we will be addressing the issue that comes up when you hold yourself back because you are worried about stepping on others toes. This happens a lot and not just when it comes to your colleagues but also with managers and senior staff.
We tell ourselves that we can't speak up or go for certain opportunities because we may upset others and worry about the consequences or what they will think about us and our ambitions. The thing is, if you have experienced this type of sabotage then you are not alone but there are ways to move past it.
So in this episode we go through 5 ways you can start to think differently about your own career progression and stop putting everyone else before yourself.
Let me know what you think!

How to be more visible when starting from scratch.
One of the hardest parts to this visibility game that I talk about is actually starting from what you think is nothing.
If you are telling yourself that you have never done any visibility work then let me stop you there. You have.
Visibility and self promotion comes in many different forms and its about finding what works for you and gets you results and doing more of that - you don't have to be like everyone else.
So if you feel like you are at the beginning of this journey where you are ready to step it up a gear and raise your profile and showcase your talent so you can get new opportunities in your career then the first thing you should def check out is the quiz I have devised.
It walks you through a number of questions and you can then analyse the type of visibility you are already doing and it will also show you any gaps or give you ideas that you might not yet have thought about doing but would really suit your style.
The link to this quiz is in the show notes at https://bit.ly/visibility-takethetest or listen in to today's show as we go through it together.

How to get back into the visibility game after some time out
Quick Win Episode!
"The antidote to this overthinking is of course taking action and we know that by taking action, confidence grows and results happen!"
As we hit September 2021 it would be a great idea to think about how you can get back into the swing of things when it comes to your visibility especially if you have taken some time out.
I am hoping that you have managed to have some time away from work over the summer months as you know I always bang on about how important it is - but it can equally be tricky to get back into the swing of things and catch up on all the emails that have landed in your inbox never mind thinking about your own visibility and what you want.
So I thought a short and to the point quick win episode to get you back into the swing of things would help - in this episode I share 3 things you can start to do to get back into it all without feeling overwhelmed….
So let me know what you think - have you been having a break from being visible?
Does it feel daunting to get back into it or are you looking forward to it?
Maybe the break has given you time to reflect and realise what you really want and now it's all about making those plans and goals become a reality.

How important is visibility and self promotion in education?
Takeaways...
Today’s episode has a focus on education and whether visibility has a place for educators and teachers - you can probably already guess my opinion on that but I wanted to chat to an amazing teacher Leisa Grace Wilson who is currently the Editorial Director of Teach Middle East Magazine.
We chat about the lack of visibility of teachers especially the work that goes on behind the scene and the reasons why teachers avoid putting themselves out there. We look at the impact that they could actually have on the negative media attention that teachers and education in general often have to face.
If you are a teacher let us know your take on visibility for you or if you know any teachers then make sure you share this episode with them.

How to get yourself the best mindset to increase your visibility.
Quick win epsiode!
Having the right mindset for visibility is key. If you are forever telling yourself that self promotion and talking about your achievements or what you really want for your career makes me feel uncomfortable, or awkward or icky then we need to shift those thoughts.
Nothing will change if you forever feel awkward every time you try to network, or post something online, or speak up in that meeting or book time with your boss to chant about next steps. Only you can make that change happen in how you see self promotion and visibility and what YOU really want from it.
So listen in for my 3 top tips in how to get the best mindset for raising your own visibility AND get the lowdown on the exciting competition we are doing!

How your own physical health and well being impacts your visibility
Takeaways...
Today we have something a little different for you on the show. Now those of you that are connected with me over on Instagram know that I spend a lot of time running and I have set myself some big goals this year and to support my training I do yoga with my sister who is an awesome yoga teacher by the way and have more recently started weight training with a personal trainer.
Nicola Church is an online PT who is on a mission to empower women and helping them make them stronger. In today's episode we chat about the importance of ditching the guilt, carving out some time for yourself and taking back some control over your own physical and mental health.
You may wonder how this links to visibility and career progression at work but believe me it does. When you feel good about yourself and you can test out your own capabilities then anything else is possible especially owning who you are and your expertise at work.

How to nail your introduction so people remember you and help you out.
Today I wanted to get back to basics when it comes to those uncomfortable introductions. I can still remember at events or training when the trainer goes around the room and asks people to introduce themselves or plays some kind of cringeworthy ice breaker and I could literally feel that dread feeling wash over me and all I wanted to do was make a run for it! I will be totally honest, my personality hasn't changed and these kind of things still make my eyes roll.
Introductions are so important and you can use them to get what you want too!
