As a passionate modern-day renaissance woman, Polo Tate is an actor, an artist, and the author of Deep Dark Blue. Her Great Great Grandfather was Ransom Eli Olds (R.E. Olds), a pioneer and prolific inventor most notably responsible for inventing the first American internal combustion automobile—the Oldsmobile.

Polo is on a mission for all to see, feel and understand their own self-worth, empowerment, and value. She loves people, lives every moment to the fullest, lets no one take her joy, and avidly practices the belief that you can do anything upon which you set your mind, heart, and spirit.

When she was eleven years old, Polo had a dream: she wanted to be in the Air Force. She stamped this dream into an aluminum alloy pair of dog tags, and shoved them in her sock, and proceeded to wear her dream every moment of every day—through self-imposed double-day practices, through four years of varsity volleyball, basketball and soccer games, through National Honor Society, through every class and test to keep her 4.0 GPA, through SATs, ACTs, military vetting, even through the senatorial nominations she earned. She wore this dream when she accepted the appointment and signed her NCAA letter of intent to attend and play volleyball for the United States Air Force Academy. Then, her dream was warped, whipped, and ripped out from under her. In her terror, she was faced with one question—Do I stay, or do I live?
