Just when you think the Book of Judges couldn't get anymore twisted and disturbing, we come to the end of the book . Chronologically, the events in these last chapters happen at
the beginning of the time of Judges. In this episode, we will get a zoomed in
look at just how depraved and sin-entrenched the Israelites were - gang rape,
abuse, adultery, murder, kidnapping, lying, and corpse abuse. Why would God
choose to include such a horrific narrative in the Bible? Tune in and find out!

Some people are just such a hot mess, you can't tell the story of their life in one podcast episode. Such is the case with Samson. We left off last episode with Samson storming away from his wedding feast and his bride being given to his best man. Has Samson learned any lessons about his sinful temper, his narcissistic attitude, his selfishness, or his sin? As we see in this episode, the answer is no, or more precisely, not yet. But God isn't giving up on Samson, and neither should we. Join us as we finish the life of Samson, dispel misconceptions about his strength, and ultimately show how his life points us to the One True, Faithful Judge and Deliverer, Jesus.

We are cruising along in the Book of Judges in our series, Sin-Filled Nation. If there is one thing we can say about this book is that it gets more twisted the further we get into it!
There are some people of the Bible that we all love and consider heroes of the faith: Joseph, David, and Daniel to name a few. And then there are the ones that have us scratching our heads wondering what God was thinking choosing them! Samson would certainly fit into this category. A womanizing, egotistical, narcissistic, arrogant, hot head is not who we want to
picture God choosing as the leader of His people. Why did God chose Samson? What can we learn from him?

As we move on in the book of Judges, the nation of Israel, and the Judges are getting worse. In this episode, we look at Abimelech. Abimelech is Gideon's son by his concubine. He self-appoints himself as leader of Israel by staging a coup, and violently killing 69 of his brothers who were ahead of him as heirs! He enlists the help of his shady relatives. But as usually happens with the wicked, their sinfulness and corruption prove to be their undoing.

Most of us have probably heard the story about Gideon and "putting the fleece out." What does this narrative actually mean? Is it showing Gideon was doubting God? Was he looking for a sign from God? Or was it something else? Join us as we continue in the Book of Judges, this week looking at the story of Gideon and the Midianites. How is this historical story relevant to us, and what can we learn from it?

Is Christians living amongst unbelievers a problem, possibility, or both? These things going on around us that probably makes most of us sick, if not angry, yet this is what is going on in our midst, in the society we are a part of. This isn’t far from what the Israelites were facing. They had pagans living all around them engaging in behavior that was in direct contrast to how they were told to live by God. If we aren’t careful, we could end up assimilating to the unbelieving world around us, just like the Israelites did. Judges 3:7 says, “And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. They forgot the Lord their God and served the Baals and the Asheroth.
