CLR Show 1833. Air Date July 7, 2023. For all of the chronic moaning and prevaricating of the right, the Biden Administration has laid the groundwork––through its historic Infrastructure Bills––for a total refurbishing of our communications, transportation, medical delivery systems and so much more. It will be nearly impossible for republicans to run against these achievements, and harder yet to misrepresent or decry them. Will their culture of grievance become (even more) meaningless? With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
CLR Show 1832. Air Date June 30, 2023. In reacting to the decimation of yet another 50-year-old right, this time Affirmative Action, Joe Biden declared the current Supreme Court to be 'a court like no other.' And yet he reaffirmed his belief in the fundamental instruments of government and our ability to get past this current low point in our national experiment. Given his own 50-year track record, we would be wise to take him at his word.
CLR Show 1831. Air Date June 27, 2023. Donald's appeal to his followers is purely emotional. Objective facts are meaningless, grievance is the common currency and, arguably, any return to the White House would blunt the strength of grievance-fueled grip on the republican party. By the time he is convicted and sentenced the first time, he will most likely have altered his messaging to accommodate this altered reality, while still expanding his perpetual grift of the faithful. Even Fox will condemn him for it. Stay tuned.
CLR Show 1830. Air Date June 23, 2023. With the censure of Adam Schiff––for doing his job as a Congressperson––and the first real attempts to impeach Joe Biden––for no discernible legal reason––republicans in the House are confirming that they see themselves as devoid of all ethical, moral, legal, rational or constitutional restraints and are merely operating out of a fear-based symbiotic affiliation with Donald. Wiser internal party voices must intervene before they do irreparable damage to our governance system. With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
CLR Show 1829. Air Date June 20, 2023. With a blistering interview of Donald and a wholesale trashing of his Mar-a-Lago document defenses, the Murdock family has added Fox News to list of its holdings that have turned on Donald. This indicates their self-perception as protected commentators of the republican infighting to come... while invariably taking every chance to knock Joe Biden. Where will this leave the MAGA Base––emotionally and functionally? Stay tuned. There are still 17 months until the next election.
CLR Show 1828. Air Date June 16, 2023. It is becoming increasingly clear, Donald has no defense to the Mar-a-Lago counts or, in all likelihood, will he have any to any other indictment brought against him. His only possible defense is extra-judicial, in the court of public opinion, hoping public outrage over his 'political persecution' will somehow lead to his election and his self-exoneration. It is the longest and most desperate of all long shots. With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
CLR Show 1827. Air Date June 13, 2023. Donald's indictment for federal crimes marks an emotional high water mark––thus far––for his willfully ignorant, unquestioning supporters, and the rhetoric and perhaps more will only get more heated in coming days. But at some point the absurdity of electing a federal and state convict must break through... or we will make complete fools of ourselves and render our system of government moot.
CLR Show 1826. Air Date May 9, 2023. For all the bluster and false equivalencies of the right, the simple force of American Jurisprudence has once again reminded all parties that no one is above the law and that the odds are damned good justice will be done in the Mar-a-Lago and other Donald-centric cases. Of even greater interest: How will this effect an increasingly disillusioned/disaffected base in the weeks and months ahead? With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
CLR Show 1825. Air date June 6, 2023. With the once unthinkable federal criminal indictment(s) and likely conviction(s)/sentencing(s) of Donald increasingly imminent, we're forced to consider the still unthinkable challenge of reuniting a divided nation in a post-Donald era. Where and how to start? No one can state the best formula with any certainty but reaching out to differently-oriented family in a non-accusatory way––and doing it soon––might be a good way to start.
CLR Show 1824. Air Date June 2, 2023. Joe Biden has proven once again that Progressivism is still a possibility––and a necessity––even in the most ostensibly divided of nations. While striking far from a perfect deal, the Debt Ceiling Crisis has been avoided and substantial numbers of republicans and democrats alike have bought into the solution. The country is finally beginning to learn, a wise old man trumps a dirty old man, every time. With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
