  • Why Tucker? And Why Now?
CLR Show 1813. Air Date April 25, 2023. The firing of Tucker Carlson from Fox was unexpected, to say the least.  And not much else has been said by Fox or anyone associated with it. But it is reasonable to speculate, if not safe to assume, that it involves perceived liabilities and convert circumstances that are not apparent to the general public at this time. As big a shoe as Tucker is, there may be far larger ones to fall at Fox––and elsewhere––in the not far distant future.

  • When All Else Fails... Drive Wedges: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1812. Air Date April 21, 2023. The republican party is utterly devoid of policy proposals and instead substitutes wedge issue dissemination in an effort to keep the base in a perpetual state of grievance. Some of these wedges could find their way into legislation that would actually hurt the base. A perfect example is McCarthy's demand to defund the Infrastructure Recovery Act as a condition of raising the debt ceiling. Most of the IRA money is earmarked for republican states and was voted for by republican senators! With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • Cutting Off Your Nose...
CLR Show 1811. Air Date April 19, 2023.  Fox, the rare defamation defendant whose culpability had been all but pre-determined by the court, has settled with Dominion for $800 million. In a rational world, that would affect the on air policies and pronouncements of this 'news' organization. But not Fox. 1/6 lies continue unabated. The red meat needs of the MAGA base supersede all, even rational business practices. This grievance pandering and its consequences, extended over the MAGA culture and its enablers, will invariably reach a critical mass and force unforeseen changes in the not far future––possibly even good ones.

  • The Real Second Amendment
CLR Show 1810. Air Date April 11, 2023. The lies and half truths about what the Second Amendment says and authorizes are as vapid as the Heller decision that codified those lies. Half of the Amendment's 27 words talk about the need for a 'well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state.' This alone can restrict gun-related legislation, and is a condition with no bearing in 21st century. The fear, greed and emotional isolation of too many lawmakers, weapons manufacturers and gun owners would have us believe otherwise.

  • ’...But Fear Itself...’ : The Friday Show
CLR Show 1809. Air Date April 7, 2023.  The increasingly irrational speech and behavior by republicans and republican political bodies is evidence of a deep hopelessness fueled by an even deeper-seated fundamental fear.  This is Donald's legacy to the party and it is being communicated and reacted to by an increasingly hopeless base. No republican leaders seem willing or capable of stemming the tide, much less identifying the problem.  And all this in the midst of the most hopeful of holidays for Christians and Jews.  With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • Indictment 1: Apollo 11 Redux
CLR Show 1808. Air Date April 4, 2023. To misstate the overused adage: 'Today is the first indictment of the rest of your life.' The novelty and media circus surrounding Donald for his first indictment will fade away far more quickly than the public interest in moon landings as indictments and criminal allegations pile up over the next six months. Donald's control over his side of the narrative––and the republican party generally––will finally begin to erode. And then the real 2024 republican candidate circus will begin.

  • Defeat from the Jaws of Victory? : The Friday Show
CLR Show 1807. Air Date March 31, 2023. At long last, the first shoe has dropped and Donald has been indicted by the Manhattan DA. But the liberal media seems uncomfortable with the prospects for success, and even seems to be anticipating some arcane trumpian strategy to secure the republican nomination and even win the 2024 election. This is worse fantasy than the garbage Donald spews on a daily basis.  And it is irresponsibility in the extreme. We must allow history and the legal process to play itself out. All rational signs point to Donald's demise.  With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • ’Know When to Fold’: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1806. Air Date March 24, 2023. Republicans are playing the worst of losing presidential hands, yet feel compelled to pretend they are not––for the sake of the base. Donald will continue to implode as the indictments and convictions add up and the culture wars issues will appear all the more meaningless. Trump and DeSantis are setting republicans up for a loss of Dukakis proportions. With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • Event Horizon
CLR Show 1805. Air Date March 21, 2023.  The indictment of Donald by the Manhattan DA is a foregone conclusion. Once that happens, he will have crossed the legal equivalent of the Event Horizon of a Black Hole. There is no backing out, only going forward to an uncertain conclusion. The only way to prevent the system from working as it inevitably will is to destroy or hobble it. Incredibly, the republicans, out of fear of the base, are telegraphing their willingness to go this route.

  • A Little March Madness: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1804. Air Date March 17, 2023.  For the first time in four years the St. Patrick's Day Parade will take place in New York City. Maybe, just maybe, it can induce memories of more inclusive times and remind us for a moment that we can not only function but flourish when our differences are subordinated to that which unifies us as Americans. With CLR Friday Co-Host, David Bach.
