  • And The Grift Goes On: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1783. Air Date December 16, 2022. Donald's capacity for grifting and deception is endless, witness 'Trump Digital Trading Cards' at $99 a pop, each listed as a Non-Fungible Token and infinitely 'collectable and trade-able.'  It's all leading up to a carbon copy repeat of the 2016 republican primaries. Trump the bloviating clown will shout all other comers off the stage and secure the nomination––but then lose in Dukakis-like style in the general.  What will the remnants of the mindless base be instructed to do?  What if Donald has already been indicted, tried and convicted before then?  (That's why they play the games!)  With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • Socially Responsible Media: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1782. Air Date December 9, 2022.  The symptoms and the consequences of an out of control internet are in full view before us. It's time to stop pretending that platform owners are somehow shrouded in a bubble of first amendment immunity and lay out a clear statement of social media liabilities mirroring those which have been developed over decades and centuries. Platform owners and the users of those platforms must be held liable for their conscious and casually uncaring transmission of false information according to clear federal standards.  Then we can swing it out in the courts.  But until then we will be driven further apart as a nation so that people with an agenda can benefit. With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • The Inevitable Intervention
CLR Show 1781. Air Date December 6, 2022.  The republicans themselves cannot alter their role as repositories of grievance and fear and agents of structural destruction. Donald remains a cartoon that defies rules, regulations and standard norms of behavior. An intervention is in order, beginning with the real-world indictment, conviction and sentencing of Donald and massive republican losses in 2024. Yes, the worst of the base will react poorly. But, for now, it appears to be the only route to reestablishing functional 2-party politics in America.

  • Feckless Republicans: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1780. Air Date December 2, 2022. Even as DeSantis and others try to distance themselves from Trump and the weirdest forms of trumpism, there is the reflexive soft-pedaling/condoning of all things extreme. Where was the republican outcry over Trump dining with 'Ye' and a white nationalist at Mar-a-Lago?  Republicans live in abject fear of alienating the extremists they need to jettison if they are ever to occupy the White House again.  How will they deal with upcoming Trump indictment(s)? With Friday Co-Host, David Bach.

  • Even Now... A Season of Hope
CLR Show 1779. Air Date November 25, 2022.  For those imagining the end of a Constitutional America is imminent, kindly reference the early 1960's with the government sponsored assassination of John Kennedy and being one rational Russian General away from nuclear destruction. We are, arguably, in far better shape than we were then, and the results of the recent election only prove it.  We can, with hope and effort, get past the current political impasse and continue the Great American Experiment as we strive to explore the many facets, challenges and unknown outer parameters of being a Liberal Democracy.

  • Fear of Governing: The Friday Show
CLR Show 1778. Air Date November 18, 2022.  Governing the House with the slimmest of majorities may prove an impossible task for a republican party devoid of a rational agenda and bristling with extremism.  Marjorie Taylor Greene has become a self-appointed spokesperson for the party, promising every kind of punitive investigation to right every kind of fictionalized wrong.  And the odds that Kevin McCarthy can get the necessary 218 votes to become the next Speaker of the House are getting worse by the day.  We've barely begun to realize the true extent of the changes our country must go through to free itself of the curse of trumpism. With Friday Co-Host David Bach.

  • Scorched Earth Trumpism?
CLR Show 1777. Air Date November 15, 2022.  Assuming Donald declares for the presidency this evening, it will set off a series of in-fights among himself and Trump wannabe DeSantis that will fatally weaken either/both in the 2024 general election, with Trump being the likely selected candidate and with virtually no hope of winning the general. Having no loyalty to the country or its Constitution, collecting indictments and subpoenas by the day, and lacking any strategic vision for the country, this may very well prompt Donald to run a scorched earth/last hurrah campaign with unforeseeable consequences. Vigilance is advised.

  • Trumpty Dumpty?
CLR Show 1776. Air Date November 11, 2022. What seemed unthinkable only days ago has come to pass. Republicans flubbed the biggest mid-term opportunity of the modern era and the Murdock family has declared Donald 'Trumpty Dumpty', laying the disaster entirely at his feet and declaring Ron DeSantis the presumptive leader of the republican party.  An inter-mural political bloodbath is in the offing and republicans have no one to blame but themselves for the coming gladiatorial spectacle that they could have been side-stepped at any point in the last six years.

  • Election Day
CLR Show 1775. Air Date November 8, 2022.  With today's mid-term election, however it turns out and however power is assumed, America enters the last two years of this phase of the Great American Experiment, the phase we have been in since the end of WW2.  Where we go from here is entirely dependent upon whether competitive ideas can replace unfettered grievance as the basis for differentiating the body politic and, more fundamental than that, if republicans can free themselves of the fear and guilt perpetuated by their embrace of the great Trump lie.

  • Fear of Decency
CLR Show 1774. Air Date November 1, 2022.  The indecency of our political discourse is at the heart of shared fears for the end of the American Experiment as we have known it for nearly two and one half centuries.  We require both a symbolic and practical statement that fundamental indecency is fundamentally indefensible. The only action up to the task will be the indictment, trial, conviction and incarceration of Donald. But the timeframe within which that can be done and still be an effective prelude to a return to the path toward a more perfect union is growing very short.
