The fact-free, intensified grievances of loyal trumpists would suggest we could be. A knowledge of our own history and a no less intense commitment to disseminating truth are our best defenses.

The Buddhist concept of mindfulness––which includes choosing to exist in the real present––would seem at total odds with the forces of social media that continually urge us to extrapolate from de-contextualized factoids or outright mistruths. In the real present, there are opportunities to pass a more centrist version of the Biden agenda that will benefit Americans of all stripes, and not require a zero-sum defeat of all 'others'... or ourselves.

The republicans' willingness to even consider weaponizing the full faith and credit of the country to score cheap political points is indicative of the path they have committed to and the damage they will invariably and inexorably do to the country unless they are continually called out and thwarted by all reasonable means. In truth, we have everything going for us: full control of government and the overwhelming popularity of our programs.
