Air Date August 25, 2021.  The republicans' first efforts to take on 'vulnerable' centrist democrats in Congress by way of political advertising would seem to suggest they have very little to run with or on.  An add running in 50 key districts attempts to saddle incumbent democrats with responsibility for slight upticks in the cost of back-to-school supplies. That's their best shot? Really?

The media frenzy on all sides about the 'failure' to plan for an orderly withdrawal of American military and civilians from Afghanistan is misplaced, and self-defeating for democrats. There is no such thing as an orderly withdrawal, only best and worst case messy scenarios. Biden must deal with a moderately bad case, but far from worst. 

CLR Show 1587. Air Date August 16, 2021. No one––or not many people are arguing that the US military control of Kabul and a handful of provincial capitals was a sustainable one. But the speed with which the Taliban have taken back regional control and the unwillingness of Afghans to defend what we think of as a country has been breathtaking. It shouldn't be.

The 'capitulation' of 19 republican senators into the 'yea' column for the basic senate infrastructure bill is further proof that President Joe Biden knows how to get things done. Human contact and basic respect are the keys to crippling the trumpian grievance juggernaut.
