CLR Show 1553. Air Date May 12, 2021. Liz Cheney's 6-minute swan song before a republican-free House Chamber was the death-knell of the modern republican party and a formal indictment of trumpism. But she––and we––cannot, and will not, let our democracy die in a cesspool of fear and lies.

As New York and the nation begin the long march toward normalcy, we need to recognize the things that must continue to change if we're to generate the hope and compassion needed for our survival as a species. Above all else, we must re-embrace our shared Universal Energy.

The great political irony of our time is that Republicans, facing the sweeping reforms and associated financial costs offered by Biden, could begin behaving like republicans and argue these proposals on their merits. But that might get in the way of their Donald-mandated grievance mongering.

Even more frightening is the refusing of republicans to learn from history and their willingness to destroy the fundamentals of American democracy in an effort to appease an unstable, unappeasable demagogue.
