Three (3) interesting findings from the poll show that:

Regrettably, 39% of Nigerians are not willing to take the vaccine whenever it is eventually made readily available in Nigeria.

Three (3) interesting findings from the poll show that:

83 percent of adult Nigerians admitted that the Nigerian graduates’ benefit from the NYSC scheme after graduating from the University.

The findings also show that monthly allowance (30 percent) is the main benefit of the NYSC scheme.

Interestingly, when asked about the government’s use of Corps members as adhoc staff during elections, a majority of the respondents (57 percent) agreed with the government’s use of Corp members as adhoc electoral officers during elections in the country..

The majority of Nigerians want unrestricted access to the Internet and social media, Afrobarometer survey shows 

A majority of Nigerians want unrestricted access to the Internet and social media, Afrobarometer survey findings show. The level of support for unfettered Internet and social media access is among the highest recorded across 18 African countries. Among the two-thirds of Nigerians who are aware of social media, large majorities say these digital platforms keep people informed and enable them to have more impact on political processes. And while majorities also see social media as making people more likely to believe fake news and more intolerant of different opinions, positive views of its overall effects on society outnumber negative assessments by a ratio of 6 to 1.

Nigerians Lament Over High Prevalence Of Police Brutality In The Country

Given recent media reports on Nigerian police brutality especially on the controversy over the death of a Remo Stars Football Club’s player, Tiyamu Kazeem, NOIPolls presents findings from its past poll on “Police Brutality”. The poll which was conducted in the week commencing May 6th, 2019, assessed the opinions of Nigerians regarding police personnel brutality, illegal activities, and suggestions on ways to curb the menace.

The findings revealed that a large proportion of Nigerians nationwide disclosed that police brutality on Nigerians is prevalent. Sadly, 40 percent of those interviewed further reported that they have either been or know someone who has been brutalized by Nigerian police personnel. The increase in the case of Police brutality has led to intense pressure from the public to reform the Nigeria Police Force and as such, the Nigerian Senate passed the Police Reform Bill in April 2019 for presidential assent. One of the outstanding features of the bill is that it provides an internal disciplinary mechanism for any police officer that maltreats or kills an innocent citizen.

Lack Of Funds And Personal Motivation Blamed For Children Dropping Out Of School In Nigerians.

In commemoration of the 2020 International Day of Education, NOIPolls reflects on findings from its past survey on Education in Nigeria conducted in 2017. The survey, which highlighted the perception of Nigerians regarding children out of school, revealed that the rate of children dropping out of basic education is high – 15 percent of poll respondents had children in their households drop out of school during the preceding 12 months. Furthermore, the drop-out rates are higher in rural (17 percent) than urban areas (14 percent) and in the North-Central (23 percent) and North-East (24 percent) zones than elsewhere in the country.

The reason for school dropout is dominantly financial (73 percent), followed by other factors including personal motivation (7 percent), Early Marriage (5 percent), Lack of Schools in the Community (4 percent), and Insecurity (1 percent). With regard to girl-child education, the most important factors militating against girl child education which include; poverty (35 percent), culture and tradition (18 percent), parental literacy (17percent), child marriage (11percent), gender discrimination (10 percent) and religion (7 percent).

3 in 10 Nigerians (30%) do not have a toilet/latrine in their home/compound, which makes them prone to sanitation related diseases. Almost 7 In 10 Nigerians Describe The Security Situation In The Country As Bad

A new public opinion poll conducted by NOIPolls has revealed that almost two-thirds (65 percent) of Nigerians nationwide do not consider the current security situation in the country to be good. Additionally, analysis of respondents revealed that the South-West region (71 percent) had the highest proportion of Nigerians who do not consider the security situation in the country unsafe, while the North-East zone (57 percent) had the lowest proportion of Nigerians in this category.

In Nigeria, majority of police encounters are marked by bribery, difficulty getting assistance, survey shows

Most Nigerians who encountered the police last year say they had to pay bribes and found it difficult to get help, Afrobarometer survey findings show.

Based on citizens’ assessments, Nigeria’s police are widely seen as corrupt, unhelpful, and untrustworthy – a strongly negative perception that forms the background for recent protests against police abuses. While protests initially focused on the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), the government’s decision to abolish the unit has not ended protesters’ calls for police reform.

The Afrobarometer survey, conducted in early 2020, shows that while only one in 10 Nigerians sought police assistance last year, about five times as many encountered the police at checkpoints and traffic stops or during investigations. Whether for assistance or to avoid problems, large majorities – more than in most other African countries that have been surveyed – say they had to pay bribes.

A majority of citizens who sought police assistance also say they found it difficult to get the help they needed.
