The poll in focus:

INDEPENDENCE DAY POLL REPORT. (NOIPolls, October 2021).

Two (2) interesting findings from the poll show that:

8 in 10 Nigerians (76 percent), especially in the North-East (93 percent) zone, believe that Nigeria is better as a nation, although a considerable proportion of 24 percent especially from the South-East zone (62 percent) think otherwise.

77 per cent of the respondents disclosed that they are proud to be Nigerians. However, this stance varied across the geo-political zones, where the highest figure was recorded in the North-East (89 percent) and North-West zone (87 percent) and the lowest obtained in the South-East (48 percent) and South-West (67 percent) zones respectively.

Almost nine in 10 Nigerians (85%) say they are concerned about kidnappings and attempted kidnappings in their state, including 55% who are “very concerned” about this issue.

Only 13% say they are either not that concerned or not concerned at all.

To commemorate child labour day, NOIPolls conducted a survey to gauge the opinion of Nigerians on child labour and the result revealed that 88 percent of Nigerians believe that child labour is prevalent in Nigeria while 12 percent mentioned that it is not prevalent. This further corroborates the findings of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) which states that there are 152 million children in the whole world engaged in child labour while there are 15 million children undergoing different forms of child labour in Nigeria which is the highest in West Africa[1].

The poll results further revealed that 85 percent of respondents stated that they see children engaged in child labour with the North-East, South-East and South-South all tied at 92 percent having the highest proportion of respondents who stated that they see children engaged in child labour in their locality.

Two (2) interesting findings from the poll show that:

55 percent of Nigerians say that poverty is the main cause of child labor in Nigeria while bad economy and parental neglect are at 12 percent respectively.

The findings also show that 85% of Adult Nigerians acknowledge that they see children engaged in various forms of paid labor or paid job in their locality.

This is to further interrogate the findings of our recently released INEC continuous voters registration Poll report.

The poll in focus:

INEC Continuous Voter Registration Poll (NOIPolls, August 2021).

Two (2) interesting findings from the poll show that:

The poll result revealed an even split as 50 percent of the respondents acknowledge awareness of the exercise whereas the other half (50 percent) claimed that they are not aware.

17 percent of adult Nigerians disclosed that they have not registered at all. Analysis by age group revealed that those aged 18 – 35 years accounted for the highest number of Nigerians (24 percent) in this category.
