Recent poll findings revealed young adults aged 15 - 29 years old are most known abusers of drugs and substances. More findings indicated that the most abused illicit drug or substances in Nigeria is marijuana (41 percent), Codeine (22 percent) and Alcohol (17 percent) amongst other drugs and substances mentioned.

Almost 9 In 10 Nigerians Attest To High Incidence of Child Abuse In Nigeria (51 percent) of adult Nigerians acknowledged that they had personally seen children undergo abusive treatment in their localities. The South-South (57 percent) and North-West (56 percent) zones had more respondents who made this assertion. While physical abuse (35 percent), sexual abuse (28 percent) and abandonment (21 percent) amongst other types were the top forms of abuse Nigerians attest to be common in their locality, poverty (35 percent) and parental neglect (32 percent) were the causes of child abuse in the country.

Interestingly, a higher percentage of adult Nigerians nationwide cited poverty (35 percent) and parental neglect (32 percent) as the main causes of child abuse in the country.

Interestingly, fewer than 4 in 10 citizens report having received a vaccination against the virus.

According to findings from the Tolerance for Diversity Survey Report (Afrobarometer Round 8, April 2021), 6 in 10 (62 percent) of Nigerians think there is more that unites all Nigerians. Interestingly, while (72 percent) of Nigerians say diverse communities are stronger, (25 percent) believe homogeneous communities are stronger.

Findings from the poll(s) revealed (87 percent) of Nigerians polled affirmed a high prevalence of malaria disease in the country, with (59 percent) of respondent at the time of the survey disclosing they had been diagnosed with malaria disease within the last 3 months. 

Interestingly, (57 percent) of Respondents disclosed they go to hospitals for treatment; (16 percent) go to pharmacies while (15 percent) visit a chemist when they experience Malaria symptoms

Two (2) interesting findings from the poll show that:

83 percent of adult Nigerians say that the issue of human rights violation is prevalent in the country;

Findings also show that 27 percent of adult Nigerians recommend frequent sensitization of the citizenry on their fundamental human rights.
