The latest Afrobarometer survey shows; Crime and security rank at the top of the most important problems that Nigerians want the government to address. Highlights from the Survey: 

- Majority of Nigerians say they felt unsafe while walking in their neighborhood (61 percent) and feared crime in their home (51 percent) at least once during the previous year.

- Nigerians (84 percent) are concerned about abductions and kidnappings, including (65 percent) surveyed who say they are a “very serious” problem.

- Almost 6 in 10 Nigerians (58 percent) rate the handling of kidnappings and abductions by the police as “fairly bad” or “very bad”.

More than 8 in 10 Nigerians (85%) say the country’s economic condition is bad, a 27-percentage-point increase compared to 2020. Six in 10 (62%) describe it as “very bad”.
